The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#6886
I'm thinking that a clean, no stories, 10k mile .2 GT3 should bring MSRP in today's market. This one is priced 10k over so I expect it will sit for a while. If this car had PCCBs, axle lift, full leather, or some other stand out options, I think it would be gone already.

His auction closes tomorrow. Hope he gets the price he wants. Super clean car and wheels come and go. I wouldn't let a set of wheels stop me from getting a car, any car. I need his car to pop 100k so I can ask that for mine. If his doesn't, then I'm gonna lower my price a wee bit

so the auction closed on the Arctic Silver SW3.9 at $110k but did not sell?

RAudiD, does that help your decision on your current pricing? (not that my opinion matters,.. but I see these cars getting to MSRP in very short order)

Unfortunately I think in most cases, you just don't get your money back on mods. Even very high quality mods. A SW3.9 is going to require a more specialized buyer than even a 997 GT3, which I think requires a certain buyer already.

Says sold for $110k. So it sold. Otherwise it would say bid to $100k.

I don't think you should. Both from a cost perspective (given what it costs to build one) and also from a special driving experience (I'd imagine it's an amazing experience as I have never been in one).

Also as an FYI a white Sharkwerks 3.9L sold in August of 2020 on BAT for about 100k + buyers premium so this car did well. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...he-911-gt3-27/

When considering all this and the fact that another 3.9 sold for less a few months ago, $110k does not seem to be that bad, for THAT car.

Doesn't matter who built the motor, if it ain't Porsche it's not going to garner the praise it deserves from the general public. I would love that car but I don't think I could pay a large premium for it. I mean it's not like the car is coming with 2 motors. Modifications only pay when you own the car.
I hope that the seller was happy with the price.

There are a number of things that may have discouraged bidders. 1) Seller went off at the track and damaged all 4 wheels and the front spoiler. Kudos to him for disclosing it. 2) Seller went on an unjustified rant in the comments that was later deleted by BaT. I read it prior to its removal and it was not pretty. The seller later apologized. 3) The SMOG process is not straightforward and involves ECU detuning and retuning. 4) The format of the over rev report provided was unusual and did not include the usual 6 ranges breakdown we are accustomed to. It just said “number of ignitions at over speed: ...”

Thanks guys. When I actually looked at the auction (which was minutes after it closed), it did not say "SOLD for...". just sayin'. I'm no BaT expert like a lot of you guys, but I can at least can read the top banner.
Could it be that there was indeed a reserve that was not met initially at the end of the auction, but then the seller agrees to sell it anyway? Does BaT allow negotiations after the gavel hits?
I also thought & agreed that $110k was indeed a good price to sell at. So my comment was directed mostly at RAudiD & his approach to pricing his car privately.
Also wanted to hear your collective Guru thoughts on why the 991.2 GT's (Touring for sure, but even the winged versions too) are hitting seriously high selling prices right now. Tourings are on a frenzy due to new 992 coming out. To me it doesn't look like that pricing frenzy is actually affecting the 997 GT market (or at least certainly not as much).
Is it just because the 991 GT3 sellers & buyers are a whole different breed than those of us who appreciate the older & more raw visceral experience?
