The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...
#302
The few that are for sale sit probably because they are overpriced and collectors already have theirs. Therefore people looking for a car to actually enjoy do not want to pay that premium.

Park Place has a .2 RS they've had for sale for 6 months for an asking price of 330K. Car has like 300 miles. They finally reduced their asking price to 299K! Still 50k over what I think the car is worth. Just my 2 worthless cents.

Those cars are just fishing expeditions.
I'll sell my rs. When it has 100k+ miles on it. And I've gotten every last smile I'm able to out of the thing.

Depends. Does the S&P go to 1700? 1500? 2350? If we have another 2008 then I think prices come way down. If things in the market/economy remain healthy I don't see why RS prices don't remain healthy outside of the 991.2 influence.

Very true. All goes back to the economy

Intrinsic value? These are epic cars. The economy will fluctuate. If you have perspective you know what I mean. The 997.1 gt3 is just as special as any 997 rs. They drive like no other. Everything is fast now, fast is not the point. The point is in the lexicon of automobiles these cars are special.
Market value? Who knows and most folks on this board don't care. Once you own one you feel the same. That said, my personal belief is that the 4.0 is eventually a million dollar car and the .2 rs at least 500k on a relative comparison. The last time I had so much conviction was in 2003 when I told a client my best trade idea was to buy a F40 for $350k...and he didn't. Buy and enjoy for what you want.

I agree with you. The best NA RS cars will be 1M eventually. The 4.0 obviously will create upward pressure on a lot of various Porsche cars.
If you assume the following:
959 most expensive (as a constant)
993GT2 most rare and therefore at top or near
What are the next Porsches in 3rd-6th place?
CGT
4.0RS
3.8RS
3.6RS
911R
991RS
991GT3
996GT3
997.2GT3
997.1GT3
993 3.8RS
964RS RoW
964 RS America
964 3.8RS
Turbo cars:
GT2RS
997GT2
996GT2
993TTS
993TT
964 3.6T
What makes these cars more/most?
Personally- my top 10 collectors (in order of want)
993GT2
959
CGT (yay)
4.0RS (yay)
993 3.8RS
964 3.8RS
993TTS
GT2RS
911R (yay)
3.6RS (got a green one)
Still have a lot of $$ to spend on the rest...

^ good pick CJ
concur.
but... many saying they are waiting for econ to tank price to drop. reality is when that happens. 1/2 of the RL pop will be selling, not buying. those who are not as impacted by econ dips, prolly dont give a crap and will just buy the toys today despite $$$, and when econ dips. they will just by the 2nd and 3rd copies of the same car. that's why i know some nuts wiht 3, 4, or even 5 4.0RS and GT2RS... crazy... no, i dont have that kind of money.
150-200.
dont keep wish for the impossible.

You guys that are 'hoping' for a price drop of 10-20k would be better served finding a way to make that 10-20k up in income vs hoping the ENTIRE economy/ market etc collapses.
Just sayin

don't confuse collectors with dealers/speculators. most collectors are happy with one or two or at the most three pieces of a special car. when you sitting on 4 or 5 of same models of rare cars, you are a most likely a dealer/broker waiting to unload.

Raw means more to me then fast hence why I'm buying my third v10 car in a row Same reason I am keeping my 957 cayenne GTS and not upgrading to a newer truck
I love cars an soul, but f the economy drops through another recession I wouldn't be shocked if prices come down 10 percent or more. Either way I will buy and drive and never sell

those cars he owned since new and still got
them. some insane offer were made for them he politely declined. he is eccentric to say the least. I don't have that kind of play money. but In the cycling world a good road bike is $25000. I
have five that are IDENTICAL other than color. some day I ride orange some day bright yellow
some day pink . I don't like to try new things.
