Vin may not have looked at the Carfax. I didn't until 1985ruf mentioned it. Besides that's just a minor mark and it could be as small as a broken taillight or a scratched front bumper. I had a blip on a q7 where I filed a police report to make sure the man who hit me didn't flee. The damage was only to a replaceable piece of plastic honeycomb grille ($170). It ended up on carfax even though I didn't use my insurance.

I didn't look but also depends what the accident entailed. Carfax is just a basemap of the history, I have seen cars that have been in major wrecks with nothing on the CF while "minor accident" could have been a bumper or something small but the owner wanted to get it fixed properly and not pay out of pocket. Getting bumped in your DD could be a $1000 out of pocket expense but in a RS could be 10x, so insurance may have been the move.

well see what the future brings. but only 25% more than a comparable example non PTS?

yep! I had the unfortunate luck of being rear ended twice in 3 months. Both were fairly minor. Brought the cars to literally the best of the best to be repaired and the bills were $51k and $22k respectively. I’m pretty sure the $22k in damage was just as bad as the $51k in damage and if I went to a cheap *** Garage both repairs would have been half the price

DD required to understand the nuances details

And this is all before you factor in increased cost of parts, supply chain, and labor. Repair bills are nuts right now for even a minor bump

it’s hard to say how it will affect price … I have a minor accident carfax from 2021 and the repair bill was $2666, he said it would have been less but he said they tossed in some parts he dinged up over time like a wing end cap and paint touch up.

My car has had most things refreshed to new but if had to guess the resell impact is still prob at least $25-30k, if I was to ever sell it would prob be to someone on the forum since I’m an open book here…

If it wasn’t for this channel it would be the Wild West, I can count at least 5 997s GT3s that were “clean” and showed clear signs of body work, the unknown is the worst

Fairly minor at $22000 and $51000 in repair bills? That seems like a lot

I looked at an off market .2 RS with 5k miles and no record of anything but the DS door had body work done and was repainted along with the front fender. I would say 90% of the buyers wouldn't have known.

Go over the car well and if it checks out, it seems to be under market value.

that’s my point! It ‘Seems’ like a lot, it really wasn’t a lot. Parts, labor etc are all insane

This is what $21k in repairs on a Kia looks like these days….LOL! New bumper, tailgate and crash bar had damage behind the bumper as well as some electrical wires were damaged, park distance modules etc

This is why insurance has gone nuts
