the current high bidder is the same guy that bought the riviera blue GT3 a few weeks ago.

That gray RS is a nice car. Seller isn't an enthusiast so he has a realistic view of car prices. someone's gonna get a nice car and possibly a nice deal. Wish I was in the running.

Mine failed a few months ago “again” so I got what 16 months out of it? I knew I should have got in on that group buy.

That is not the same as the car automatically raising the lift due to some other fault/speed condition. The only speed based condition is the lowering of the lift above a certain speed, in the event that it was not lowered by the driver.
To my knowledge, there is no situation under which the car would automatically LIFT the axle under some speed threshold.

what you linked to is the common issue of the lift staying up after it had been raised (by pressing the lift button) and not responding to the button when attempting to lower it back down.

The one you are describing is more common and not as much of a concern... The lift still operates but will not always lower when the button is pressed. Therefore you must drive over 35 mph to trigger the auto lowering.
The more serious problem is complete failure of the system in which it cannot lift at all.
The car in question appears to have a (mostly) functioning lift.
997.2 Turbo Manual or 997.1 GT3
Good afternoon folks,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I am in the market for a 997.2 turbo Manual or a 997.1 GT3. I currently have a 06 997 C4S manual that is currently being sold. I know between the 2 cars (turbo, gt3), they are completely different, but it's still hard to make a decision. The sound of the GT3 is amazing but the boost and comfort of the Turbo is amazing as well. I've driven both and still can't make a decision. Has anyone been at this decision point? Either car will not be my daily. Mostly driven on the weekends etc. Thanks!
