I think that the narrative around original paint and no mods is the natural transition of these cars becoming more collectible and becoming modern classics.
As more investors start to consider the 997 GT cars things will shift towards identifying the cream puff cars.
That being said, one thing that I’ve really enjoyed about the 997 forum is that people seem generally more interested in modding, DIY and driving than the extended leather and deviated stitching debate of newer models.
I admit I was also worried about my 997 not having a leather dash and PCCB’s… right up until I drove my car and now I could care less. The driving experience is so good I can’t be bothered by how much leather is in the car and whether it has every ‘perfect’ spec sheet.

My notes on this one:
- Broken gas cap tether
- Faded centerlock nuts
- Pic 136 has the paint meter in the wrong measurement, so it looks off
- Decent peppering below the shark fin PPF on the rear quarter (expected)
- Surprised to see such a difference in paint meter readings (2.5) between pics 124-125 on the same door. I’ve noticed bottoms of doors can have lower readings, but wouldn’t expect that much although some of that could simply be how he was holding the paint meter

no, they are false recordings and should be dismissed. It’s physically impossible to have one ignition in all those ranges. Range 1 is the only real one and at only 29, is not indicative of anything worth worrying about.

When this is your favorite type of car, you continue to learn and watch and become an "expert" from just being an enthusiast, as I am/was....Its "my" sport.
Timing. it took me longer than I'd hoped. But it happened and I'm still stoked. Just drove it 2700 miles, finished Sunday, and its Tuesday and I just want to go for a drive...
Related to value, I dont' know if I overpaid or got a deal. What I do care about, is I finally found the right one.
Timing. Blessed for sure.....
