The 997 GT3/RS Cars For Sale Thread...

I’m surprised you didn’t feel the difference with DEM. I always felt the cars with DEM had less buzzing/NVH around 3k RPMs. I never pushed them hard enough to tell the difference in stiffness at the upper edge of firmness, but they seemed to absorb vibration better in their softer setting.
In the real world where these cars are no longer brand new, for most people, I doubt there is a discernable difference. Certainly not something i would consider a must have. just my $0.02.
Just for fun, I priced out a new set of DEMs from a Porsche parts distributor (at a discount) ... $3,400 in parts only. The Porsche tax is alive and well!

Agree with above generally. Not enough difference to warrant them.
When I was first shopping for a 997.2 GT3 back in 2011, DEM was a must have. Perfect car came up and the one thing it didn't have was DEM. I had figured out that the pigtails for them exist in non-DEM cars and could be coded on and retrofitted. Tracked the car a few times and decided it didn't make enough difference as a friend had my car's twin, just with DEM. Never did it. Never regretted it.
My lesson from all of this is that for cars like the 997 gen with a limited pool, if it has a Mezger, a stick and a stock suspension, everything else is marginally necessary. PCCB? Aftermarket options that are better. Leather dash? never made a difference when entering/exiting a corner. Buckets? Can be had (expensively) used/new. Lift? Just don't lol.
You can spend forever looking for the "perfect" car or you can find a really great condition car and start driving it.

In the market for a white 997.2 GT3 with full leather, dynamic mounts, PCCB's, etc. I was an active bidder on the recent one on BaT but backed out at the end. In hindsight, that was my dream spec 997.2. As such, I'm looking for another one. Clean dme, not tracked, no accidents or stories, stock (or with exhaust), 25-40k miles preferred.

Thread Opinion Question: What time of year/week is best for shopping for a 997 GT3?
Real Answer: When you can afford it
j/k…
Does anyone have data on this?
I’ll tell you what I’ve observed but am too lazy to pull data for and some questions maybe you guys have opinions on.
- Auctions seem to end lower at the end of the year closer to the holidays, some really good deals at the new year and Christmas.
- Weekend times seem to draw less eyes and end lower for auctions
- Does pcarmarket pull less than BAT for like cars?
- Is winter/fall higher because people are bored and have time to think instead of drive, more car swapping going on?
- is spring higher because everyone wants a car before the sun comes out?
- are the production numbers so low that none of these things actually matter?
- Do tax returns matter in this category of car?
- Does this thread activity track to the number of 997 cars for sale, it seems we have some dead months, is that because there are less cars to talk about or because we are out driving.

Thanks for all the feedback. My 6GT3 has full leather and I like how it makes the car look and smell (ha - it's a real thing). Zweck has a white one with standard dash, no sports chrono (don't care) but asking 196k. Super higher seeing that Switch has a lower mileage one with EVERY box checked for 10k less. I think Zweck's should be priced around 170k. Will also call Doug and chat about the GT Silver car. Not my first choice in color, but hard to look away from a car with every option box checked.
Current self is kicking 2 week old self for not just buying buying the one on BaT. Stopped at 174k.

I have 2 little kids so my seat time is always limited. But I drove mine all last weekend as pretty much my daily. Took it to go play golf, took my daughter to her soccer game, took it to dinner with my wife. I cherish it everytime I get to take it out. Even the mundane times. Makes the longer spririted drive that much better.

I thought you ended up selling yours to ATP? Did I have that mixed up?
