Unfortunately, supply is so low on these that 2-3 players can literally corner the market by buying up every car that comes up for sale. Good if you have one to sell, not so good if you’re looking to buy.
This should be combated. Cars should trade owners directly with the people who will enjoy them. Dealers add inefficiency by buying the car, inflating the price/decreasing supply, and it hurts the ultimate beneficial (would be) owner. It's time we take back control.

i think the market will sort itself out eventually… don’t see a practical solution to “combat” anything other than making sure you’re the first one to send the wire when one pops up that works for you (if you’re a buyer).

Actually quite the opposite. I support efficient markets which is a hallmark of pure capitalism. By your logic, the Internet and every technological advancement that came from it would be "communist" or "socialist" because it made sending mail by pony more efficient.
Don't sell to a dealer is one idea, albeit a basic one. Or create an incentive system among current owners that awards selling to people who are driving and using them rather than someone who is going to be a net negative contributor to the system.

That registry can go a long way in tracking these cars, seeing any issues they've had and using it against the dealers to negotiate a better price.

I see where you're coming and it would be great if we once again had some control but from another member, who adamantly did not want to sell his car to a dealer, was left with no choice when all the private party buyers were so nit picky and low ballin' that at the end of the day he gave in and sold it to a dealer. I would have too as time is money and dealing with these types of people will drive you crazy. Heck I'm trying to sell a set of harnesses. The buyer squabbled over $25 even after I said I'd cover S/H charges. Those guys get a ghost from me. I stopped communicating as the clock ran out on the time I was willing to give. I would try first to sell to a private party but if the dealer offers more, I'm not going to leave that money on the table.

These aren't cheap, and if someone wants to buy to hold, I have no issue with that at all. Like I said, everyone has the freedom to make their own choices. But, wouldn't it be nice to go into a dealership and buy a car you've always wanted, to enjoy or to hold or to stare at or to whatever, without a salesman telling you you'll have to pay $100k over the sticker price, or you'll have to wait 5 years (which really means you're not getting it). Money is important. Really important. But is it the be-all-end-all? I don't think that's the culture Ferry had in mind when he first rolled up his sleeves.
I'm a big believer that the cars aren't just cars themselves. Owning a car, especially a Porsche, is very much about the community as much as it is about the car. Passion for the car breeds growth of the community, and that's when you get great things happening. When you have people who are solely focused on the $$$ it can be easy to lose the forest for the trees, and the community ultimately suffers as does the long-term viability of the brand ethos. In that vein, I do believe that every Porsche owner/driver has an obligation (even if it's a small one) to help support the community and espouse its core values as responsible delegates.

In the market for a white 997.2 GT3 with full leather, dynamic mounts, PCCB's, etc. I was an active bidder on the recent one on BaT but backed out at the end. In hindsight, that was my dream spec 997.2. As such, I'm looking for another one. Clean dme, not tracked, no accidents or stories, stock (or with exhaust), 25-40k miles preferred.

What you advocate for is just not realistic. When one decides to sell, they will more often than not go for the quick/painless transaction vs dealing with PPIs and due diligence from a private party who may or may not close the deal for various reasons. I know I would and likely so will you, and most if not everyone on this forum. Not sure what the incentive system you mention would look like but i'm guessing it won't be relevant to most sellers that are ready to move on.
It's a really interesting dynamic that probably isn't fixable in the short term. For now, whoever pays first, gets the car, which sucks when you're the one buying, but is great if you're selling.

You can probably skip the dynamic engine mounts - it's a gimmick that won't make the slightest noticeable difference. i drove cars with and without these, and bought a car that has them. 0 difference in real world driving. No track time is also a needle in a a haystack requirement - most of these cars have been tracked a few times at least. It's really trendy nowadays to claim no track time but most of these sellers haven't owned these since new to really know that for sure. Your car will pop up at some point, just be ready to go when it does. good luck!

Dealers all went belly up the last time we had some car run ups and a recession, hence why you don’t really remember any of the non branded dealers aka NOT Porsche of X, Ferrari of x from 10+ years ago
coincidentally the dealer that bought my dads 997 gt3 he ordered new almost a decade ago was exactly like Grand Prix motors and foreignagfair etc just middle manning what really is private transactions (no CPO, reputation, service shop, etc).….and they don’t exist any longer
these dealers are taking massive risks, more so than even they probably realize, so they’re getting rewarded when things go up and all is well. If that turns south they’ll get absolutely crushed holding depreciating assets at high int rates
I think the market is rewarding them for the risk, but it can and will at other times punish badly
I see it as totally fair

The other thing I would say is you won’t get “the deal of a lifetime” even if you checked this site everyday… too many random bored idiots like me will bid on something if it’s too far in the “deal zone”.
Even with the car market getting back to normal the buyers of the 7 GT3 can be lucky that “time” doesn’t reduce the value, so you win if you sit on it and you win in a different(better) way if you drive it
There is less long term risk in “just pulling the trigger” than the 992 or 991.2 imo
