Listen carefully when the GT4 is discussed. Discussion of a manual box in the GT4 ensues, because of the PDK only boxes in the GT3/RS. There it is.

I'll admit it - I'm one of the hopeful. I love rowing my own! Looks like the 7.2 RS and the 4.0 RS are going to continue increasing in value! Likely all 997 GT3s will continue to appreciate as the run of GT4s is going to be as small as the GT3s.

The new GT3 can't have manuals so Porsche can compete with the big boys. AP was pretty adamant about that.

no surprise here.
I do not see why folks here are holding out for a manual RS....
If you want manual, the RS3.8L is your car...
If the 991RS was manual, what would it bring to the table that makes it better then the RS3.8L?
More weight?
numb steering?
RWS?
longer body?
20" wheels??
other then higher redline, im not sure why one would rather have it?

Every 911 I own is a manual, including a couple RS. I've never owned a PDK Porsche. I would not buy the new RS in manual. I would want it to be PDK. If I want to drive yesterday's cars I'll drive one; 997 gt3s are awesome machines. But I'd want something different and materially better than a 997rs before i plunked down $200k for one. All this is hypothetical because I'm not a 918 buyer and I'm not any dealer's top client. It really would be silly for them to put a manual on their flagship track-oriented car now that PDK is available. It would be purposefully holding back the car. That's what the gt4 is for.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who isn't unhappy that the 3.8 RS (and obviously 4.0 RS) will be the last of the MT cars. Historically significant as 'end of era' machines, and only makes them more collectible.

We get it. But I'm not touching these "GT3s." It's Porsche's own problem to being so successful.

Customer should have the option. Everyone wins.

But would you drop a big wedge into a manual RS over and above the cost of the 'standard' PDK RS for something slower? Porsche would need to invest a sizeable amount of wedge to reprogram everything to make it work and they Wold need to recoup at your cost. I still remember the E60 M5 where BMW was 'forced' to make a manual version and it was a far less polished car.
