No manual (traditional) makes perfect sense.
But the fact is the rhetoric changed.
Two years ago the communication was absolutely no manual.
This year car and driver reports a manual is being "strongly considered" and DR GT makes mention of a sister car collabo with the manual Gt4 "which you can probably guess"
So I have no clue. I would bet on a manual if the odds were decent enough. Anyone care to make a spread?

agreed.
last year/s they were adamant and not changing stance.
now with the gt4 and the gt3 situation they have read the market.
whether that viewpoint continues into the rs remains to be seen.
we will have confirmation very soon.

sorry, but you missed my point like a CJ Ichiban 4 seam fastball....JK
just saying, those two companies (that you could care less about) don't offer an option MT.
don't get me wrong, I like the MT too, and if I ever get into one of those other brands, I would prefer the gated shifter. still doesn't mean we will get an option. we'll all know soon enough

All I know is that my supposed "small" market Porsche dealer in KY has 18 deposits for the cayman gt4. Not because it's 90k, but because its a manual. Demand for the gt3 and RS will explode if the offer a manual. Fact.

Why would they keep making yet another iteration of the 997gt3? It takes more than some new-car-smell and a warranty to get people to want the next model gt3. If you want a 997 gt3 experience, buy one. I love them; I have two. Most of the market wants something over-the-top "better" and something different.
That KY dealer would have 18 deposits on PDK-only gt4 too. I'm waffling on the gt4 because of the manual. I'm considering it because it's mid-engine and 85k......different than the Porsche gt cars I already own.

Have you been watching the prices of the used manual cars?
They sold more 991 PDK gt3's than any other gt3 iteration by a BIG margin. I don't think the tranny hampered demand. And there won't be any PDK-only RS sitting unsold on lots. The overall demand for PDK is larger; the market shows it. A dozen guys hanging onto the past on this forum don't make the market.

Yes, I own a 3.6rs and 4.0rs. I hope 997 prices do dip some because I'd like to add a 3.8rs.
I get it. I understand why 997 gt3 prices are staying strong; it's the end of an era. I also understand that it is the end of that era. And, Porsche can't stay in the era; it has to compete and move on. And I (and a lot of other people) want to buy the best they can produce in this new era of performance. Otherwise, they'd still be making long-hoods. Look at that market! Why doesn't Porsche push our a few new long-hoods or a Singer type car at least?! Because they have to evolve or they will die; competition would make them obsolete.
I think one more 997-type gt3 would have caused the design/feel to get long-in-the-tooth. Instead, we have a great crop of era-ending 997's to still enjoy and a whole new experience in the 991. Variety is good.
