Can't imagine anyone wanting Porsche to slow the car down by adding a manual; come on guys move on...as it was noted, if you want to row a high performance car, buy the GT4....

at least I dont give ****
I am happier for slower lap time with 6-speed rather than faster track time relying on automatic.

the new 9a1 is not compatible with the older 997.1 / 997.2 transmission. it's not about power as obviously the turbo has more power than the gt3. the new PDK and the 9a1 were developed in tandem to function together, even the 7 spd manual is the pdk trans and not a 'regular' manual like the gt3 cars of yesteryear.
the old trans on the 996 GT3, 997GT3 is for me the best manual trans for track driving I've ever experienced. I am curious if the GT4 cayman will utilize the soft and light standard boxster/cayman or if it is going to be robust and manly like the previous gt3- I think that will make all the difference in the world on the success of that car.

Its not just a case of sticking in the 991 7 speed or some other parts bin gearbox- everything needs to be retuned- the programming time/costs would be huge for a few thousand cars- same price as deviated stitching wow didn't think that would be 100k plus option, even then they would make a loss on each one.
Not going to happen.
Everyone is going turbo and or 'auto' due to emissions targets plus performance gains.

I thought Alex from Sharwerks mentioned on the Joe Rogan Experience that the new 991 GTS cars use real manual transmission as opposed to the 997 manuals using the PDK?

Thankfully we are going Turbo across the ranges in Germany. Oh, wait Turbo less when neutered but not when tuned to pass N/A on track, so very confused...

rumours are now appearing that the rs will be offered in a manual.
source unknown, just was on the net.
previously, about a year ago, i was told direct by a solid source that it would "definitely not be a manual"
a year is a long time though.
