With the engine in the car, the etch marks are difficult to see, you will need a mirror to see. We typically check the torque while the engine is out for coolant pipe welding or other services. Since these are dry sump engines, removing the cam actuator covers will only lose about a spoon of motor oil. 997.1 GT3 only have actuators, they are on the two intake cams. 997.2 GT3 have actuators on all four cams, there's a vacuum pump and oil lines obstructing the exhaust cam actuator covers.
***Disclaimer: Applying torque to these fasteners is not factory approved. We elect to do so at our own risk. Some versions have aluminum fasteners which should not be torque'd.***

With the engine in the car, you can remove the cover and then take your iPhone and snap a picture that you can then view and also enlarge.

Doing the mundane
I think in another two years I will have every wearable part on this car replaced whether they need replacing or not. Replacing parts on my car is a personal hobby, I do it at night, don't answer the phone nor emails, its very relaxing like meditation .

Fun after mundane
Finally scraped up enough coins for a set of premium quality forged wheels! Excited to run them in 2 weeks!
Forgeline GA3R
In popular motorsports width/offset for narrow body car: 19x9 ET50 and 19x12 ET59
There are my first set of premium wheels. Can you see my level of excitement for these wheels? I AM SPARTA!

LOL! Geez, look at the size of those things!
Are you putting factory spec tire size on them?
Always look forward to seeing updates to your thread Tom.

That is a picture of a man who loves what he does. Congrats on the four new additions. Keep inspiring, Tom.

What a great thread! I am new to Porsche and enjoyed reading about your journey, no matter how many times you have/will have to remove the engine!
Looking forward to seeing your new wheels installed!

Did you get a decklid that has openings on both sides for that cup airbox?

Running 235/35-19, 315/30-19 HooHoo's. I ran these this set of tires back in August on OZ wheels and now they're mounted on the Forgelines. Like mooty said in another thread the first 3 HC's is magic! Well, those weren't his exact words...LOL... but you get idea. I set my PB on my first session with these tires in traffic and not even trying, as I never run close to my limit on the first morning session. They have 8 HC's on them and I look forward to running them weekend!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Me time!
Even with the 2016 IMSA racing season came to a close we are still extremely busy(like always) between prepping local customer track cars for the last events before the Northeast tracks shut down from the Winter, new product development, remote customer support with TPC/DSC products, and preparing for our DSC exhibits at SEMA. Fortunately I was able to work in a night of much needed me time!
Starting with an easy task to take the edge off. 18 days on these AP/Essex rotors and still braking strong.
For me, this is where its at.
These Forgeline wheels are definitely designed with consideration of precise wheel alignments. The rim lips just feel solid and precise when clamping/centering the alignment fixtures with no drama or doubt. More than what I can say for some bling-focus wheels...
Still loving my MOMO Mod30 steering wheel. The flat bottom is real nice for doing alignments.
Forgeline GA3R 19x9 and 19x12 filling the narrow body to the brim!
Good night. I am feeling delirious.

... a GT3 Cup racing through streets of Baltimore! I love this video!! - The MOMO GT3 Cup on a street circuit! Yes, my home town, doing things that I couldn't do on those streets without going to jail.
Here's the video link (I apologize in advance for those who can't view this video, this is the only format I can come up with is on fb)-
