So far that thing looks like an awesome car. Miles is up for the buyer to decide, a 997.2 c4s is expensive either way.
That car was actually posted a few pages back as a car from a private seller... I talked to the seller a bit, sounded like a nice car. I ended up getting busy and wasn't able to pull the trigger, but I probably should have... According to seller, trade in was $42K, seller would have taken $44K (without the trade in tax advantage).
It had a lot of work done on it recently, water pump, plugs, coils, pads and rotors, serp belt, fluids, etc., mostly from indy's. I have scans of most of the service docs if someone here ends up buying the car and the dealer didn't retain them (they usually don't).
I didn't see it in person and didn't get a PPI, but got a very detailed description and photos of the condition and history as well as a long conversation with the indy that did the recent work on the car. Very good for the age/mileage, but definitely not perfect.
Rock chips (pretty heavy on the front bumper), some significant scuffing on the center console, some leather 'dents' in the back seats from booster seats, etc.
About the only negatives on the car was it was a PDK (I really wanted a manual) and it did have about a dozen track days (COTA) on it. It was run hard enough that it went through a full set of brake pads and rotors in 7K miles
Dealer may have touched up some of the rock chips and cleaned it up a bit, hopefully they did since they are marking it up $7K over their purchase price.
Probably should have pulled the trigger at $44K, a very decent price for a .2 C4S that doesn't have carfax or other issues, but c'est la vie...
Its probably the rubber bushing in the control arm that went bad. They can go bad. As for the glass, could have got pitted driving in a sandy area or perhaps a rock was thrown up and got it.
Glad to hear PDK cars are depreciating faster than manuals. That's what I want Can't say the same for Tiptronic. A bit off-topic but are there any people who specifically look for Tiptronic cars? Those seem to have little following but maybe I'm mistaken.

This thread really needs a companion spreadsheet of VINs, links, and prices to help with research. Stories like this really help make an informed decision.
Hopefully it got cleaned up a little bit. I thought the dealer listed price was not too bad when I compared it to recent Manheim numbers.

Just need to post the vin along with the link that way it will show up in a search. Next time someone is looking at a car all they need to do is google the vin number and R/L post will show up in the search.
I've seen a few 997.2 dealer posts mentioning a car has the X51 Carrera S Powerkit, but each time i've run the VIN, the option doesn't show up on the options list (see link below for example).
Was the X51 a factory option on the 997.2? If so, does it show up on the options list?
I've never seen the X51 listed as an option on a 997.2 build sheet. if it was a factory option, it must have been very rare.
Perhaps, this dealer is misinformed and calling the increased power offered by the S model an "S Power Kit." He calls it an "S Power Kit,: not "X51." This would not be the first seller to misspeak in an advertisement.
That said, Suncoast Porsche offers the X51 for the 997.2 3.8L cars:
X51 Carrera S Power Kit

Basically, it's 15 additional hp for $11,000. Hmmm, maybe I'll pass.
In sport, there's always room for a little improvement.
The 911 was born out of passion for the sports car. The source of this passion can be traced back to the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach. Here, our designers and engineers give their all to produce breakthrough after breakthrough, applying themselves with dedication, heart and soul, a love for detail and a desire to redefine the limits of supreme performance. The most recent accomplishment is the new Carrera S Powerkit, which is now available for the 911 Carrera S or Carrera 4S models (Type 991).
In plain figures, we have managed to increase power output from 294 kW (400 hp) to 316 kW (430 hp) and improve acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h by 0.1 seconds. The 911 Carrera S models with PDK and SPORT PLUS button complete the sprint in an impressive 4.0 seconds. The fastest variant in the range reaches a top speed of 308 km/h.
To develop the Powerkit, a number of sophisticated measures were needed . The cylinder head intake ports have been reworked and given a polished finish. The stroke of the intake camshaft has been increased and the electronic engine management adapted accordingly.
The highlight of the Carrera S Powerkit is the newly developed variable resonance intake manifold with six plus one switchable valves. This innovation enables the system to switch between power- and torque-optimized geometries and deliver a boost in power output, particularly in the upper speed range. The extra heat generated by power increase is dissipated by an additional center radiator.

Thanks for all the info. Agreed... maybe not the best bang for your buck at full retail. I've seen a couple of used 997.1's and 991's with X51 for about the same price as non X51 models, which i'd love to find on a nice 997.2
The power kit install, is at least a few K.....as its engine out, heads off, install new heads and other goodies...button it all back up. I've not heard of many people doing it.
