X51 is all bragging rights to me - I'd wager money that 99% of those with the power package cannot and will not feel it in every day use, unless you're hammering away at high RPMs and pound-you-in-the-rear penitentiary speeds on public roads.
It's a slippery slope where everyone here is going to have their own opinion different than mine - but when we break apart a GTS into its individual components, it's marginally better than most C2Ss and C4Ss. Looked at as a whole, it's got a great combination of features that stand out because it was supposed to be the swan song of non-GT 997s. But for those justifying the value in them being 80-90-100-110k, you puzzle me, maybe because I simply don't have that kind of disposable cash to blow when the equivalent C2S or C4S delivers objectively, 95% of the thrill at $0.65 on the dollar.
But again that's where I differ - I feel strongly that the white C4S above in its factory spec is a more special car than most GTSs ever try to be with their awkward plastic dash / base seat / PDK / alcantara combos.

I have to admit that when I bought my GTS one of the deciding factors was full leather. I came from a 997.1 without it and for some reason I lusted for it along with some other upgrades like ventilated seats. It doesn't really make sense but I wanted it.
I too felt that if I was going to go for it I didn't want to look back and say "I wish I had".
When they start falling apart I may say I wish I hadn't. Doh!

I have a 970.2 with the "other" leather. I didn't give a hoot one way or another but when I got the 997.2 with full leather, it just looked the part. Not sure if I'd spec it new though.

You mean the same PASM suspension that is in the C4S as much as it is in any other C2S or base car?

I know there was a long **** thread about the GTS suspension being bespoke with Pete Stout being very outspoken and determined about it. I can definitely feel a difference between an AWD and a GTS.
Matters littler what we say or think on this tread, I think market and $$$ spent speak for themselves. Most purchasing GTSs are pretty savvy sports cars guys and know what they are paying for.

That happened to me over 20 yrs ago when buying a 911 from a Porsche dealer. I drove 2 hrs to the dealership after the salesman called me saying the car I wanted had just come in on trade with only 5k miles. I immediately put down a $1000 deposit on my Amex. When I arrived, they had sold the car to someone else. They said "credit card deposits don't count".
I insisted on seeing the owner to tell him my story explaining I had just driven 2 hrs in traffic to pick up the car.
"You're calling us on this? Get the f**k out of my dealership" he said to me surrounded by his goons.
I called the Porsche rep. The rep said he's sorry I was treated like that, but there's nothing Porsche can do. They are a big dealer.
It still pisses me off and I'll never recommend that dealership.

Brand new car, I gave the dealer $1,000 to hold it for me. Went to lunch with my wife to think about it. Got back an hour later thinking I had a car. I didn't. They sold it before I got back.
To be fair, I could have come back from lunch and told them I wasn't interested.
I was pretty mad, but they found one exactly like it, and I had it two weeks later.
Like Michael says, "It's not personal. It's strictly business." You want the car, you sign the contract. That's when it's your car.
But yeah, it's frustrating to travel on the promise of a car. Probably sold by a different salesman.

I also noticed the seats. Odd that the only nice option according to VIN Analytics on very basic spec car was sport seats, and someone along the way swapped those out for the 14-way comforts with alcantara.
With all of that said, it could be a good deal on a .2 C2S MT Coupe if the price is right.
