Bob, I will give you one more data point and I hope it doesn’t cloud the situation.
On my ‘09 C2, I replaced my stock setup with the Eibach Pro springs and the Bilstein B6 shocks. Others on the forum have done that swap and reported that their ride was still very comfortable. I went with the B6 as I wanted the option of reverting back to my stock springs if I wasn’t happy with the look or ride. While the B8 is made specifically for lowering springs, the B6s should work just fine with them, too.
I found my ride to be much harder than stock—almost uncomfortably so. My indie told me that the Bilsteins have a much more flinty ride than the stock shocks, both with stock springs and lowering springs. I don’t know if this is universally true, but it is what his customers have reported to him and what I experienced.
If I did it over, I would try the Eibachs with the stock shocks first, before I swapped out to the aftermarket shocks. YMMV. Good luck and report back what you do and how it rides when you’re done.
Thanks, @Iceter, that's really helpful -- does not cloud at all...another very good data point.
Indeed, perhaps I go in stages and install the Eibachs first.
If I'm completely honest, I was trying to do my suspension work all at once and save myself the hassle of tearing things apart a couple of times...I am not Mr. Mechanically Adept by any stretch, though it does seem wiser to go a staggered route.
The good news is I have a DSC that I have yet to install and it should help prevent too stiff of a ride when I want it softer, and then the stiffness when summoned.
Regardless, thanks again for the input, Iceter. Greatly appreciated.
New IXI shift ****. Weighs about 2x more than the OEM one and feels good, better than the one it replaced. Decent quality and subtle looks.
Took some effort to get the old one off. Ended up wrapping the shaft in tape, clamping visegrips on the shaft and using a wrench as a pry bar between the visegrips and ****.
Boris your car is beautiful. I wish I could lower mine but the grade break getting into my garage won’t allow it.
Thanks ilovemaui,
It’s a 1.25” drop from H&R. Takes a bit of getting used to maneuvering around driveways but I’m comfortable with it. Bottom line...always approach on an angle LOL
