I have always had this struggle with tint living in California.
It is also a necessary evil here.
I just think cars look cleaner without tint.
I did do a "compromise" job on my B8 Avant:
I also removed Huper Optik tint off this car and replaced it with Llumar Air 80% on my windshield, and F1 50% all around including my sunroof. Pretty clean. Still:
I cannot get over how clean this looks without...
I seriously struggle with this on all my cars and my wife's cars, which have been a Nissan Leaf, a BMW i3, and a Chevy Bolt in succession. We tinted the Leaf with 50% all around (3M Ceramic my decision) and then my wife went way darker on the i3, which I wasn't into but was her decision after having the leaf (Llumar Ceramic). Interestingly, she has not touched the Bolt. I am curious to see what she does...
Last, my Silver EVO VIII came tinted and I left it. My black EVO VIII came without tint and I left it. That seems relevant.
The sun is different in the South but it is also brutal here in LA traffic where you are just baking and not moving for hours, so I have a lot of time to think about it unfortunately.
Over the weekend, our club had a mod party. I believe at least 8 Porsches showed up. It was fun. I had to replace my belt and also installed the Fabspeed intake. Fun! I can hear and feel the difference.

A mod party - cool.
I'd recommend you measure the air filters, then go to the K&N website and lookup the sizes they offer for their Hydrophobic Pre Filters. Buy 2 that are the correct size to slip over your air filters and when you drive or park in the rain they'll help air and not water to be sucked into the intake. When the filter media gets saturated with water it becomes less effective and the prefilters are treated with or made with a water repellant or hydrophobic material.
Since getting my TTS, I've spent close to $3k on tools and garage rehab to give her a nice home. Bought some used Kobalt cabinets last night (4 total for about 30% of new) - washed them out this AM, hit them with the leaf blower and left them in the sun to dry 100%. Put up some new LED lighting in the garage. When it's all said and done and no longer an embarrassment I'll post some photos.

The lack of pictures of your gorgeous Mexico blue 997 TTS is very concerning. I’m a big fan of all those flat light blues on 911’s (Riviera, Mexico, Voodoo) so I would greatly appreciate if you post some pics of your car. BTW, that’s my next mod...
Vinyl wrapped lower bumper for the GTS look. Have done some taillight film on some past cars, those were much simpler shapes. This shape was hard. If the valance was a removable piece it would be easy. As is, the edge is defined by a deep rounded groove in the bumper. So you've got to make an accurate paper template, transfer to the vinyl, and then place the edge of the wrap as close as possible to the center of that groove. Then the wrap has to get over the ridge, including around corners, all without folding over itself .
Since I wasn't sure I'd manage, I got the smallest, cheapest amount of vinyl I could - 1'x5' of "3M 1080" matte black vinyl. I put that in quotes because it was bought off ebay, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was counterfeit. Particularly for only $12.
Have some dual exhaust tips coming in a few weeks, in that time I'll decide if I like the look. If I do but it's not holding up I'll get some nicer vinyl and try it again. It being reversible makes it a less stressful change to commit to. Not the best pics, shadows make it hard to pick out the edge in places, but here it is..

It looks great, it was one of the first mods I did (I went with flat black wrap). The quad pipes will make it look even better!
I washed and rinsed the new red belts I got from kellen in the marketplace last week. Put them back on the reels and installed this morning...Geez there's no room to move around in that back seat area if you're any larger then a Hobbit! Thanks for the great deal, kellen!
