got the wheels mounted and the car started, wanted to go to a car wash, ended up going for an "extended" drive instead … I missed this thing so much over the winter ...

Did my first autocross with my local PCA region yesterday...set the initial quickest time of the day on my first run (2 run groups, I was in 2nd group so several laps had already been done), had that broken by a guy in a 2019 Carrera T, and then got the lead back on my next run. Everyone had ok 3rd runs, I threw away what felt like a real good one with a couple of cones hit.....but dude had a great 4th run and took the top spot.

I wasn't even thinking lap times at first (*ahem, yeah ok, who am I kidding? What can I say, I used to road race motorcycles). I was really trying to feel the car and learn what it could do on the limits, especially since I just picked it up back in January. I feel like I know the car so much better now, I know what it will do when it starts to let go, either front or rear, how quick these machines really can and do stop, and overall what a total kick in the ***! Most fun I've had in the car yet!

I was at the same AutoX as Turbodogs02 in my Turbo,Tip,Cab, I did not fair as well Turbodog.

Since this was the first time I had ever autoxed the whole experience was new to me. The Morning exercises where fun, spun out on the skid pan full 360, and everybody said it was hard to spin an all wheel drive car I guess I just tried harder. The smash the gas and stop was my favorite exercise.

I feel my problem in the course was when my turbo lag caught up and would upset the car as my thought process was to stand on the gas. I had never ever drove a car like that and was the first time with out the PSM on. Went off course once, hit a few cones, drove the Salomon the wrong way other than that a very fun day. I think I need another day to maybe figure out my car some.

Went back out the the garage yesterday after a drive to discover a puddle of coolant under her. (Pic is after ~16 hours of drying time, forgot to take one until this morning. Was much worse initially.) Presuming I've got the dreaded cracked coolant expansion tank. Couldn't locate the source with a flashlight from the engine bay or under the car, but only a little bit of that tank is visible when it's installed.

Guess I'll be parking her until I can get that fixed! 😥

Wrapped up a weekend of maintenance (mostly not DIY) and spring cleaning for an upcoming road trip to Tennessee - coolant, tranny fluid, brake fluid, alignment, EVOMS intake on, summer tires on, summer wheels painted black, a new silver/black badge, headlight vinyl, summer floor mats in, cleaned inside and out, and we're ready to go. Not a great picture:

Yep, probably so. The puddle is a little too far left to be the water pump. Once the coolant cooled down and some leaked out enough to reduce the pressure in the expansion tank, the crack kind of closed back up and stopped leaking, but I think the tank is probably the issue. Take a light and look for hairline cracks in the side of the tank or put a pressure tester on it and pump up to 10-14 psi and see where it runs out from.

The frame reads - "I'd rather be driving a Mid-Engined Porsche"

Not quite today, but this weekend installed the OEM SSK and threw on a stock Decklid to replace my GT wing until the Getty duck arrives.
