Decided to do an interior carpet wash, it has never been done & I was surprised about how much dirt came out considering I've had mats in it since new!
First pic is weapon of choice; before the wash; half and half, fully washed; how much dirt
Removed the door sills. I was planning on installing the Rennline stainless steel ones, but I think it looks better without a door sill at all so I'm keeping it like that.
Btw, removing the door sills was a royal PITA. The removal of the glue took me like 3 hours! And yes, I used a heat gun and Goo Gone.

Here's the end result:
That does look good but aside from looks, the door sill serve a protection purpose. Look at the one you removed and decide whether you want all the nicks and scratches that were on it in your white paint (if there were any). If you like the look, but want the protection, maybe clearbra them.

The ones I removed looked very good, I just thought they looked a bit too plasticky and cheap. The part that has a few scratches is the black trim piece that is still there. I like the clearbra idea. Will look into it. Thx!
Replaced my Engine Mounts on my 2007 C2S. I was amazed at 49k miles they were already worn. I did it for the fun of it but in the end am very pleased i did.
I've been curious since I got the car a couple of months ago why my tips were looking low. I also had heard the 997 engine should rev very smoothly and well my didn't feel that way. It actually was pretty rough.
First thing I noticed tips are higher. The chassis feels more connected to the engine on starts. And my favorite is the engine revs very smooth now, no more rumbling.
This was a rewarding easy DIY. Total cost $240.00 and borrowing of a 18mm deep socket from neighbor.
While reinstalling I raised the engine until the mounts were just starting to be pushed up away from the install plate. The key is to then torque the 18mm nut to 63ftlb with the top two fasteners tightened down to 13ftlb. My goal was get the engine as high as possible without actually compressing the mount. This was the most confusion part of the install. It wasn't clear in any write-up exactly how high the engine should be when fastening. If it seems I did this wrong can someone give me advice, appreciate it.
Here are some pictures to show how the mount was stretched compare to the new one and that the aftermarket part is the exact same as the Porsche part. You'll notice in the photo that the mount only looks stretched about 1/4 inch however under load it was stretching down much more, i could see it looking up from under the car.
Cleaned her up after a 200-mile mountain drive to NC and back last weekend where we drove in and out of heavy rain at times. Covered with a used cover purchased from fellow Rennlister, waizone. Another successful Rennlist transaction.
I have been buying and trying detailing products for years and have finally settled on what I think will be the winning combination.
Washed with MF mitt and two buckets before using Menzerna and Wolfgang products with a PC 7424 and Griot's Garage pads to clay bar, compound, polish, and seal the paint on my wife's similar color CR-V. Used Ultimo for the black trim, 303 cleaner and protectant for the interior, and rubbing alcohol and Gunk glass cleaner spray foam for the glass.
This two-day exercise was a dress rehearsal to determine the optimal product and pad combinations for my 997 which will get a more thorough detailing before being stored for the winter.
I may have a little bit too much free time on my hands.
