Suncoast states that you have to order a new airbag. Were you able to reuse your old one?
I have a sand interior so I was also worried that the alcantara would contrast too much. I have ordered black floor mats as they are easier to keep clean and there is some black trim and buttons on the dash.
Does anyone one have pictures of an alcantara or black steering wheel in a sand beige interior?
Thanks!
Mike, I was also concerned about the contrast in my natural brown interior, but I think I turned out just fine...with the black floor mats, it might also help blend it all in better.
Anyways, just got mine installed not too long ago:
Good input, thanks! I just saw a Cayman on the FS section that also has a beige interior and a alcantara steering wheel. The stock steering wheel really is quite clunky so I think I will order this one.
Had the last of my leather pieces added to the interior. The scratched plastic door handle surround looked worn and cheap. I like the leather surrounds much better.
So I was going to have my console and door plates covered in leather but found this how to:

Step 1 — Porsche 997 Ash Tray Paint Repair
Ask home depot paint rep to mix a sample paint pot in the Interior color using the ash try as the sample.

The paint will softened and being to bubble up , just keep working the paint with lacquer thinner till its all off.
Step 3
Wash the plastic piece with some dishwasher soap to remove any residue
Step 4
I sanded the part lightly with some fine sand paper (220-300 grit would be good) to remove any imperfections in the plastic
Step 5 — Prepare Paint Area
This is water based paint, so clean up is relatively simple... just lay down some newspaper or towel to protect the work area.
Step 6
Mix the Latex paint 3 parts paint : 2 parts water inside the Preval Sprayer
Lay down even coats of paint on the trim piece.
When spraying, never start or stop on the trim piece... always over spray it slightly.
I laid down 2 thin coats and the part looked great.
Let Dry And reassemble ash tray
I have this issue as well. I'd love to see some before/after pics
You must have been really flying to get an average that high with gas stops etc.
I don't think the trip computer runs when the car is turned off, so that average is only actual driving time. You can certainly cover ground in these things quickly under the right circumstances though. Shot over to Charleston a couple months back, which is a 3.5 hour drive and averaged 78 on the trip computer. Cruise set at 84 with occasional stints higher.
Waze has now adapted to my driving so I'm lucky to improve my arrival time estimates by more than a couple minutes, even on a multiple hour trip :-/
Over the New Year's holiday, I replaced a failing AOS, broken coolant line as a result of removing AOS, replaced fouled spark plugs from huge clouds of white smoke coming from exhaust because of AOS, and my oil filler tube that I broke months ago and had held together with tape because I already had everything apart so I might as well while I'm in there.
I had some work done on my car. Painted wheels + calipers, new stripe along the car, cupgang logos on wing, smoked out tail lights and replaced my chrome porsche letter emblem on the wing with black sticker instead.

Dont want to hijack the topic of this thread, but, I used Waze and was astounded that Waze predicted my arrival time to within 2 minutes of the actual arrival, and it was a 6.5 hour drive each way including fuel stops. I assumed that its calculations are based on the flow (actual speed) of traffic rather than just some calculation based on traffic/distance/speed limit. But your suggestion that Waze is actually learning from my driving is unnerving.
One can make make very good time crossing the CA/AZ high desert. I try not to have the delta between me and the other vehicles too high so as not to be a hazard and so as not to attract unwanted attention from aircraft spotters. My Redline radar detector worked insanely well with alerts coming several minutes before seeing the "bogey"
Old school guys will hate this, but I think these are cool.
Good thing I'm a new school guy then, because I think they're cool too. Bought 2 sets as stocking stuffers for both my 997s, but haven't installed them yet. Where did you get yours?
