I'll post pictures once finished.
Woot woot...congrats! Nice upgrade.

Pete - I would love to see how you did that. I'll be doing a replacement this year and your method sounds like a great solutions.

Thanks and Happy New Year

The screw method is great because you can independently adjust the tension of how the spear fits to the panel at all the attachment points. It's not too difficult and would probably save you a good bit of money over having the dealer do it.

If you're interested, I can recap the process. I think the photos are on my home PC though so wouldn't be able to share those until Tuesday.

Matt, I actually found the old ad where I had listed for sale a set of the panels I did this too that included a description of the process. The ad also contained a link to a Shutterfly gallery with photos of the backsides.

Default Refinish scratched trim

So I was going to have my console and door plates covered in leather but found this how to:

Porsche 997 Ash Tray Paint Repair
This guide will show you how to repair a very common issue among 997 and 987 owners. The interior plastic paint tends to peel around the ash tray (and other areas) We will remove the original coating and then proceed to repaint the affected area.

This guide will show you how to repair a very common issue among 997 and 987 owners.

The interior plastic paint tends to peel around the ash tray (and other areas)

We will remove the original coating and then proceed to repaint the effected area.

Tools
Preval Sprayer

Step 1 — Porsche 997 Ash Tray Paint Repair
Ask home depot paint rep to mix a sample paint pot in the Interior color using the ash try as the sample.

Step 2 - Optional
Apply Lacquer thinner and begin to remove paint.
The paint will softened and being to bubble up , just keep working the paint with lacquer thinner till its all off.

Step 3
Wash the plastic piece with some dishwasher soap to remove any residue

Step 4
I sanded the part lightly with some fine sand paper (220-300 grit would be good) to remove any imperfections in the plastic

Step 5 — Prepare Paint Area
This is water based paint, so clean up is relatively simple... just lay down some newspaper or towel to protect the work area.

Step 6
Mix the Latex paint 3 parts paint : 2 parts water inside the Preval Sprayer
Lay down even coats of paint on the trim piece.
When spraying, never start or stop on the trim piece... always over spray it slightly.
I laid down 2 thin coats and the part looked great.
Let Dry And reassemble ash tray

The leather bits with the contrast stitching look great!

I pulled my 997 out of storage today, since the forecast showed a couple of warm days for the early part of this week. My car's been in storage since Thanksgiving, since I only have summer tires and temps have been below 40F, so I've missed being able to drive it. Tire pressures had dropped, so I pumped them up. Tomorrow, I plan on washing the wheels, since I didn't get a chance to do that when I washed the body last month. Looking forward to Spring already!

From the multifunction steering wheel to the alcantara sport design wheel...loving the paddles and alcantara so far. Hated the push buttons on the factory wheel.

Went to go visit my brother for new years and checked on my car. I've had it stored in his garage since October for the Winter.

Default 997.2 tail-off.

A pit picture heavy, but here is my Sharkwerks X pipe and Fister swap between my '09 Carrera and the '12 4S. It was interesting to see how similar they are but also the subtle differences. As most projects go, it took longer than expected but the pregnant wife was very patient with me spending the weekend in the garage.

Mike, it's good to see another Raleigh member. I hope to meet you at a Cars n Coffee this spring. Maybe you, GoPirates and I can meet up for a beer sometime.

BTW, I just ordered the Billy Boat center muffler delete. I may be PM'ing you in the next couple of weeks to get some pointers on how to remove the rear bumper.

BTW, both of your 997s look great.
