What did you do to your 997 today?

For my trip I finally turned on my XM and took along the iPad to plug in. Also first time bothered messing with the NAV. All in all liked the way everything worked. No gripes.

So, after a string of SUVs and pickups buzzed past I just moved over and got in line. I just though we drove sort of fast on Texas Interstates. Triple digits except for the 18 wheelers. It felt like I was in Europe but in a much better car than my rental last time there.

Tomc, that is the area. I 540 Spurs off North from I40 to Fayetville, about 75 miles. Then gets into one town after another Bentonville, Rodgers, Bella Vista right into Missouri. The rural roads are Up and down and twisties. Good condition too, mostly. That section of I540 is the Arkansas Autobaun. Posted 70 but never seen traffic move like that on the Texas Autobaun posted 85 down by Austin. Also yes, in a good 911 it is very good country.

Well, this was about 2 months ago but I just dug up the pic. That 20L pail cost C$ 250 (or about US$ 190) from Acklands-Grainger. Ended up using it on the Audi tranny and rear diff too. No difference in shifting on the 997 but the A4 is better.

I noticed that it is possible to turn off the auto dimming feature of the mirrors. Doh. This is over two years since I bought the car, lol. All this time thinking that it's quite dark when the auto dimming is on, kinda wish I could switch it off!!!

Gave it an unexpected ride - looks like the shifter cable broke...

It has a pretty long shelf life if sealed properly. I'll change the 997 and A4 again at some point and the rest will go to family/friends.
Can you believe the dealer asked $92 for a litre of oil? Buying that pail is no brainer.

So far I've been unable to figure out what to use in my 02X. Motul Gear 300 seems to work when hot, but not when the car is cold or warming up which is most of the drive.
Then came Scotty@AdvancedAutomotion selling Fuchs Titan SintoFluid SAE 75w80, claiming it has better cold shift properties. It's also on AutoHausAZ for $14/L.
So basically I don't know the PN, or even what's behind such PN.
For example, it's easy with other stuff. People already know German steering fluid is either old CHF11S (mineral) or CHF202 (synthetic).
Coolant, G12, phased out now by newer G13. Compatible but produced in a more eco-friendly manner.
Or brake fluid. Pentosin Super DOT4 (old) or DOT4LV for newer cars with thinner ABS passageways.
Bulbs, sort of. H7. Or D1S. Now it's D3S which is made without Hg. Environmental reasons for end of life car cycle.
_________
Another thing I don't get, Fuchs site lists that same above gear oil, corresponding to a common OE Audi box PN.
Fuchs Titan SintoFluid SAE 75w80 <---> G052911A2.
IDK if that's their way of saying "this fluid IS this PN re-branded at dealer markup" or "we think this can be used FOR this PN application"
Even more confusion, the site lists it that way for B7 but NOT B6, even though technically BOTH are 02X.
To me, that's like saying "This Pentosin steering fluid will work for your white Audi, but if you paint it grey then no, you can't use it"
___
I think there's a different outlier PN for B6 02X in ETKA that someone tried (from dealer) and said it was too thin, like water.
