Are you lightening the rear of the car? If not, why unbalance it further?
My car is unbalanced? Can you explain further please. I have never heard of balancing a car before. I have heard of wheel balancing, but not car balancing. Please explain. Are you talking about corner balancing?
Or are you talking about front/rear weight distribution. No, that doesnt make sense either. Only a complete moron would think that losing 6 pounds per side from the front fenders of a 3400+ pound car would have any perceivable effect on the cars handling. And you definitely are not a complete moron.
So can you please explain further, as I dont understand what you are asking exactly.
After procrastinating for some time about what to do about the tired and scratched finish of the centre console, I finally removed it, stripped it down, sanded (800 grit wet) and re-painted it. I tested using a plastic bumper and trim finish on the rear console section, but was not happy with the finish, so re-sanded that piece and did all the pieces with an adhesion promoter followed by a general purpose satin black spray pack.
The hardest parts during disassembly were removing the gear **** and electrical plug to the console. The DIY guides in the 997 and 987 forums + YT were helpful - I suggest if you are doing this, to read a few, as each have some insights.
Also, I suggest bagging and labelled all the screws and hardware, as they are different sizes. If you're like me, the week or more between removal and reassembly is long enough to forget exactly what goes where. Re-assembly was if anything easier than taking it apart, once you figure out the order to insert screws as some are hidden by subsequent trim pieces.
I am pretty happy with the finish but the test will be durability. I figure if it scratches or marks easily, my options are to have it professionally painted, vinyl wrapped or trimmed in leather.
Having the console apart was also a good time to clean the leather trim. The console bid lid, gear shifter gaiter and handbrake all had minor scuffs which I treated with a leather repair kit and re-dyed black. The gear **** had 10 years of yucky human oils and dirt, which pleasingly cleaned up very nicely simply using Dura-Gloss leather shampoo and a scrubbing brush.
Photos before, during and after:
Before - wear and tear around the armrest, ash tray lid, handbrake lever and shift.
Nothing better than a drive with friends and fellow enthusiasts. Where were those pictures taken?

Just outside of Tellico Plains TN. That covered bridge is right across the street from Cherohala Harley Davidson shop. We skipped the Dragon (US129) today (its just a little north of here) and took 360 south (off 411 near Vonore) toward Tellico Plains. Route 360 is a fun road with tight twisties but not as hairpin as the Dragon. You can safelyh carry a lot more speed on this road too. We stopped for lunch at the Tellico Grains Bakery, then drove to the mouth of the Cherohala Skyway (165) and just a few miles into it turn to the right (called "River Road") to go see Bald River Falls. Just a stunning drive and perfect day! Few more pics below

When you pick them up, it is crazy to feel how light they are. The side with the gas filler is about 4.8 pounds, where the drivers side is even lighter, at just 4.1 pounds.
The carbon/kevlar weave on the backside looks very nice, and the overall workmanship is beautiful.
