Had the PCM maps updated...and met some other Porsche enthusiast, while drinking coffee and enjoying an omelette in the showroom while I waited (Porsche of Tysons Corner)!

Drove across town to Mark Motors Porsche. and bought the Tequipment Indoor Car Cover, a new front license plate bracket, and some PRG touch-up paint. Thanks Rick in Parts!

The photo below was when we pulled up to the southernmost point unknowingly and then I recognized it from postcards. Told the wife, she opened the sunroof and stood up to take a photo haha. The crowd there suddenly was less interested in the view and more interested in the car I think, guess it's rare down there. I will say having a 911 in Key West felt really cool. Unexpectedly most everyone was driving mopeds or rental cars so having the flat-six wail echo down the little streets was a treat. A lot of people stopped and stared like it was some super-exotic - some even took pics of the car with their cell phone (never had that happen before) Driving down Duval street was a good time.

What did it cost to get the maps updated? What's involved? What year did you go from to?

I did my first oil change on my 997.2. Pretty easy. Needed to lift the car body up a couple inches to get the pan under. Warmed the car until I would check the oil level. Showed that I burned no noticeable consumption in 6700 miles. Need a better funnel for adding oil from 5 quart container. Added 8 quarts and showed fill to top line after warm.

8 qt, sounds like 1/2 qt over-filled.

Oil level was right at the top line with the top box empty. I let it drain for over a 1/2 hour.

I drain my 997.2S from two hours to overnight. I wipe out the filter housing. I then add 7.5 quarts to be one (large) box under ... better than an overfill I believe. Adding 1/8 quart twice will fill the top box. The small top box does not light, even when over filled (found out after I had my local dealer change the oil the first go around and then drained almost 9 quarts). Is 8 quarts a problem? Probably not. Glad to hear you did the change yourself!
