The 911 also has different wheels than the Beatle. Gotcha.

If my first Porsche would have been anything like the OP stated I would not be looking at another Pcar.
For any car that cost anywhere near the cost of a 911 the car should have been made right. If I owned that dealership it would be right or I would make right or buy the car back simple where is the integrity of the dealer.
I know in my rinky dink business I have made things right many times enough to keep the reputation intact. IMHO

Here's a fun comparison of German engineering vs. brash American muscle. I think we know what camp Ronnie prefers.

Most likely not but fixing the car would resolve that problem if not buy it back fix and sell yes a loss but how does it work where lemon laws kick in who is at risk dealer or manuf. Not a atty so I not sure of that answer

I am a bit slow, and yes it seems to be high consumption, but let me get this right, you say "adding a quart every 500 miles is just not acceptable on a new modern day car. My point is that had I known this I would have not bought the car, but I was never informed by the salesman or GM that Porsche uses a tremendous amount of oil compared to ANY other new car."
You have to be seriously kidding me. If you had know this you would not have bought the car?
Did you know that you need to do an engine out service in most Ferrari's every 7 - 10k miles. Did that stop you buying a Ferrari. Did you end up in arbitration/mediation with Ferrari North America over that?
Oil consumption seems high here, agree, but just surprised that it was such a serious issue that questioned your very buying proposition to begin with...

I had the opposite problem.
92 Vette gave me nothing but problems. In the shop constantly. I finally gave it away a year later because it was such a POS.
My P-Car has not used a drop of oil in 25K miles. It has been in the shop once to fix the hood latch.
It is rated very high in JD Power's initial quality ratings.
Nothing is perfect, but it sounds like you will be happy with the Vette (10 of them).

This is the part that jumped out at me -
"As for the radio, the dealer would not fix it until they had permission from Porsche North America! Then they said the problem is caused because I have an iphone hooked up to bluetooth!"
My sister had an aftermarket iPod interface integrated into her Acura's Nav system and it wreaked havoc. Not sure how the dealer is being unreasonable here.....

..."how would you feel if the Ferrari owners....", "thank you for the support"....
Geee, be a man...get a hold of yourself. Is your self steem so low you need our support and you feel hurt if a P man criticizes a Vette? Do as I do,,,,take your Prozac and move on.

Its hard to give a lot of value to a post form someone who didn't seem to know what they were getting, what they wanted, and seems to have had exceptionally bad luck in their purchase as well (which can happen, lemons exist in all brands).
Given that you have owned 15 cars in 22 years doesn't add credibility to your complaint either, as it indicates you really don't get involved in your cars beyond just 'its a ride that goes fast'.

Given that you only have 26 posts to your credit, I wonder how much research you even did about the brand and particular model care BEFORE you purchased the car, as given the issues you have had, you must have spent the other 25 posts on threads about the broken audio system, smelly engine, horrible handling, bad performance, etc.

To me, the issue is the way the Porsche handled his case... and being a Vette guy to begin with, he lost his patience!
