Very interesting stuff.
Now its # 5 on the list of views - not just the last 12 months - but from the beginning of the 997 Forum, with 6,646 views as I post this message.

And, its # 2 on the list of replies from the beginning of the 997 Forum, with 180 replies as I post this message.

But.... will it catch # 1 in both categories? That honor belongs to "997 S in shop for 7th time in 3 months!" with 56,696 views and 593 replies!!! That's the Cal Ripken Jr. of 997 Board threads - a record that may never be broken!!!

It sounds like you should be successful........I really am pulling for you.
This site is absolutely fantastic. That last bulletin re: the software upgrade might just solve my install problem!!!! This site really rocks...........thanks everyone for pulling together as I think the combination of all the info has given people the confidence to make this install work. .........with or without Porsche.....though my dealer has really been so supportive..........

Oh cr@p - I'm a "Dork"... Playing pool while watching the 60" flat screen while slugging a Guinness and listening to Zeppelin through the B&W speakers don't count cause the CD has been converted thus the music is in Apple Looseless streaming from a server via iTunes to a digital optical input on the amp via a RJ-45 connected to a Air Tunes module from the other side of the room.

Heading to the Gym with my iPod and Bose headphones....

Why did I take that quiz - Damn "B's"

Damn, Damn, Damn....

Maybe I'll feel better when that Valentine 1 is installed...

Quite fun, actually. But it was even more fun watching my 5 year old, in his 2nd year of skiing and only 7 or 8 lesson days between the two years, fly down the mountain, and then take the half-pipe and smoke it!! But then, on what would have been the final run of the trip, I tell him mom is taping him. So after I tell him to take it slow, he takes the pipe at like 20 mph and rides up the side and crashes, skiis come flying off and he hits his head (he had a helmet) and he is hysterical. He is OK. But I immediately take him up the lift again to get him back on the run so the trip does not end on a downer. This time he is more cautious and smokes the half-pipe again with huge smiles.

Later that night, I asked him what he was thinking when he flew up the side of the pipe wall like a maniac. He told me that he was trying to be like the "flying tomato head" (which is what he calls snowboarding gold metal winner Shaun White) and he wanted to "get air like flying tomato head". LMAO!!!! My 5 year old son, watching way too much olympic coverage, decided on his own to attempt a gold metal run down the main half-pipe at Copper Mountain on his 3rd run ever on the pipe. I explained to him that "tomato head" practiced many years on thousands of runs with many crashes. He said "I don't care - I can do it next time". He is going to be a real dare devil one day - strike that - he already is!!!

That was fun to read, Adam. Thanks for sharing. And you're a great dad too for not letting him end the trip on a downer.

Now tell him about the fact that it was show-boating that cost Lindsey Jacobellis a gold medal! ... Show him that tape too! ..

Ok guys, just oicked my car up from Danbury Porsche following the Sirius SAT install. It works flawlessly on all channels. I really like the way it integrates into the existing system including memory buttons, display on INFO setting and user friendliness.

Additionally, I learned that Canadian installer put the antenna in the Pass side fendor next to the charcoal filter. That alone will cause reception issues as the antenna will not go through metal. My antenna is located under the cowl cover on the Pass side. I was told by the tech that some modification to the bracket was neccessary but all in all, he was very pleased as I am I.

Good luck 1080iAddict with your install and keep us posted.

That is exactly where the existing NAV antenna is located that gets replaced! I 'eyeballed' the NAV antenna cable and felt that antenna with my fingers under the cowl cover. So that makes perfect sense. I wonder why the Canadian installer (is that lockie's installer) placed the antenna in the altered location? Would it be because the installer did not feel like removing the cowl cover which looks like the most tedious part?

Anyway, I concur with the bracket modification. Looking at the part in the parts box and the existing antenna depicted on the TSB for the NAV install on the 997, a slight modification will be in order.

rshanholtz, your post is the exact momentum I need going into tomorrow's install. Since this will be at my house, I will take pictures and document everything.

I don't suppose you know whether a hook up to the PIWIS computer was required, do you?
