Earlier in this thread, someone posted that their dealer was talking to your dealer on how to install the satellite tuner. Their dealer determined that your dealer installed the antenna in the wrong location and it was being blocked by some metal.

Have you tried moving your antenna, or is the problem with the 2.1A PCM software?

Default can you scan/post the complete instructions from kit?

1080-can you scan the instruction sheets that came with the parts and email or post them. I believe that I and many others possess the mechanical skills to do the install-but would like to see if the wiring info is within my expertise-thanks-Bill

There are no instruction sheets. There is only a TSB for the Cayenne install and we did not use it. We used intuition and figured it out as we went.

Yup. Those are the connectors. Any idea if these can be purchased online? I would need to purchase the specific colors we need (2 colors) (each color is keyed differently to fit the identical keyed corresponding socket). I would also need the crimping tool.

FWIW, I have some extra cables that were not used for the install and I took one apart. There is no way to cut and solder a new connector without having those connectors posted by LTC. In other words, you cant shorten the cables without new ends. Those things are crimped perfectly with a heavy rubber shield under the plastic part. Very well made I might add. In theory with the new connector ends and crimp tool and micro soldering iron (I would need to see the actual connector to see how the wire attaches) the cables could be shortened.

But.... is it worth it? For like $20 bucks or so maybe to clean it up. But I got a feeling the crimp tool is probably $50 - $75.00. The SAT works perfectly. I can't see the wires. There is no discernable signal loss.

There is DEFINITELY no way to shorten those cables without new ends and a crimp tool. You could cut the coax in the middle and solder and heat shrink, but THAT will cause signal loss for sure.

No, it's probably not really worth it, but someone could if they chose to. The tools are expensive, it takes a bit of practice to strip/crimp these connectors and there really is no signal loss to worry about in the PAG OEM cables.

Then again, what do I know?......I design tie wraps for a living.

1080i,

Was wondering if the xm/sirrius kit contained all the parts needed (im looking at the part no 955.044.900.37 for xm without cd changer) or did we need to order all the parts listed on the tech sheet
posted earlier in the thread.

I feel, in all this, that a disclaimer is in order. After all, the lawyer in me requires it.

I AM NOT AN EXPERT. My results worked. Your results may vary. Remember, some people had problems with this. I am not your tech support connection, but I will respond to questions until I get sick of responding and move on with life. I do not work for PAG. I do not condone tinkering with your $100,000 car. Proceed at your own risk. Handle with care. Get it?

Seriously, remember that some people are having problems. I suggest that you be sure you have PCM 2.1B but I am not sure that it's required. So, that's all I have to say. If you blow up your ride or do something you regret, its not my fault.

Thanks I have given that to my dealer and will be seeing him Monday.
I will also be trying the Antenna positioning again as well.
I got a email however indicating that one dealer advised that a Update to 2.1B is not possible.
I can't imagine Porsche issuing this bulletin and it not being possible. I've got over $2,000 invested so far and I'm going to find a way..

Well, it obviously doesn't make sense to buy crimping tools for a one time application. The better advice, and I'm surprised it hasn't been stated yet, is to take your car to one of those car audio shops that specialize in SAT installations and pay a tech there to clean up the connections for you. Of course a suggestion like this would not be expected of a tie-wrap maker.

You guys are killing me - the paristic loss by the extra meter or two of cable is minimal and less intrusive to the signal then warrants mention - since it's not even a cosmetic issue then why not leave the cable as is?

The install is a success - thanks to everyone who paved the way for us others - hope to have mine installed soon.

Cheers to everyone

CONGRATS 1080I On a job well done and the pics are fantastic with details on how you proceeded to do this.

As for the cables, not to worry. Isn't one a fiber? No need to touch, if it works and it works well, leave it the hell alone!

As soon as my car goes PLPROD, I'll order a kit for one with CD changer.

Thanks guys for all you hard work!

1080I - impressive. Question: with this install, do you happen to get an AUX in? Like for an iPod or other mp3 player?

If not, do you know a solution for AUX in?

Thanks!
