A little confused. Is the passenger version the 996 livery? Never saw that design. The driver's side seat looks identical to what I have on both sides and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Uncomfortable? Not at all at least not to me (or my wife) and we've done 3 hour + drives in them. Different to get get in and out of? Yes, but not a big deal getting used to unless physically compromised in terms of sitting down and getting back up. You don't slide in and out of these. More of a "drop in" to enter and a bit of a climb to exit.

I had new seat cushions made using Relicate houndstooth with orange highlights. The pic is from the shop who made them. They were test fitting. I will use the cloth seats during the summer and keep the stock leather w/heat for winter.

The 996 GT seats are only slightly heavier than the GT seats and are a static hard shell. They aren't as aesthetically pleasing and have been given the nickname 'elephant ears' among porschefiles.

IMO they're a great performing seat and a lot of HDPE cars use them. You used to be able to pick these up for $2400 a pair not too long ago. That ship has sailed obviously. They also dont fit some caymans and boxsters I've read because the 'ears' interfere with the door or b pillar.
In the 997 they look out of place.

CPO with low miles. Not sure it will sell for that price though.

They'll get that for it. Super low miles, nice color combo and options.

You may be right and we may never know, but prices are in free fall right now and there are quite a few low mileage GTSs hanging around at the price, admittedly not CPO. In 2019 they were going for $50k. Can't help but think they will be back there by next summer.

I don't think they'll ever get that low again. I think MT cars will stabilize around $80-$85 and PDK in the low $70s with manuals continuing to command a $10-$15k premium.

Agreed. It seems like manuals that are priced under 95k still gets snapped up rather quickly while PDKs linger for a while. There could be an outlier though. I am thinking that the price gap should incrementally increase on the 6MT RWD coupe variant. There were only 276 units sold in the US. When I was hunting for one this variant was the hardest to come by. I also don’t plan to sell it as it is the 911 that checks all of the boxes I care about. Even when I acquire a GT3, it would not replace the GTS for street use because my kid fits in the back. The 4GTS 6MT coupe should follow but there are so many wide bodied 4WD 997 trims made. The only other wide bodied 997 RWD cars made were GT3RS and GT2. Let’s see if my theory of a larger price divergence will happen in the next year or two. Hold on to yours if you have one.

Nahhhh, I pretty much disagree with all that you wrote.
Prices are steady, just not double digit increasing on a monthly/quarterly basis as througout the pandemic.
Well sorted, lower-mile, no story 997 GTS are selling...with only the PDK, AWD (particularly Cabs versions) RNM-ing on BaT and PCAR.

Check your stats, no well sorted GTS hammered at an auction for $50K in 2019. If you have data that supports your statement- please share it.
There is plenty of "Ask" prices online, but apart from the auction sites, no reliable "Buy" prices.

https://bringatrailer.com/auctions/r...11&yearTo=2012
The lower result prices were mostly RNM, not sale prices.

BaT recently set new records for sale prices in many categories.
Well sorted 997 GTS Coupés, particularly RWD, 6MT, lower mileage examples, have not even leveled off- they continue to show appreciation on BaT and PCAR auction sites- which remain two of the (very few) sources of transparent sale prices for many marques/models.

I follow the 997 GTS market closely and am always curious about new data points. Please share where "quite a few low mileage GTSs hanging around at the price" are hanging around. TIA.

It may well be that you are right, very happy for you to counter my thoughts on this, my data points are looking at the market right now. Pretty much every car listed has been sitting for quite some time and that is probably because the dealers were just asking too much for the cars to start with and it was not a good indication of the cars true value. Many have has $20k price cuts over the last month as higher interest rates kick in. I was also not specifically talking about 6mt coupés and fully appreciate their desirability and elevated value, but the wider market of PDK Cars both coupe and verts, of which there seem to be plenty more has certainly softened.

All your points may well be vindicated, I think the rather nice low mileage black one that just went up on BaT will be a good test of the current market. People saying it will be 6 figures and agree with you completely, I think it will be in the $90's and am probably wrong. But you know what opinions are like... Everyone's got one.

Here's a 67K-mile, GR, Sport Chrono PDK, Aerokit Coupé on eBay, asking $77.5K.
MSRP was $125.6K...Aerokit, carbon interior, SPASM- but with manual comfort seats.

Higher miles and PDK perhaps offset by color, Aero and SPASM.
Aaaaaaand...a $12K (plus install labor) VF Engineering supercharger kit claimed increase- at crank- of 408 to 520 hp and 320 to 390 lb torque.

Sounds like fun.

Ask @Petza914 about linear power delivery on a 997 platform.

And another PDK AWD Coupé with 40K miles, in Cararra white, bid to $70K (RNM at that price) on eBay:

This nice GTS Manual Coupe on B.A.T. is up to 80k with 30 minutes to go. I hope it hits 100k!
