Mezger turbo!
#481
Just used some of my valuable time to stroll down memory lane and reread the beginnings of this thread... what a trip. I do recommend if you have time - the sawzalled exhaust, the DIY mount, what fun!
As far as I can tell the current issues on the car [missing fasteners & screws notwithstanding]
-runs like **** due to "GT2" engine brace tripping the knock sensor and killing boost
-FWD disconnected/removed, some unknown box installed to trick the computer. Jared would not provide any details on the box.
-Possibly cut through ground somewhere during the Long Island Sawzall Massacre throwing all kinds of CELs
-some kind of aftermarket exhaust, not sure how much a replacement OEM would cost
-Sunroof delete and F/W windshields replaced with plastic - do they leak? seem to have been done by a pro shop
-Headlight and windshield washer delete? He threatened to do this but not sure if he followed through
-Rear seat/subwoofer delete - probably too much trouble to undo these
-Poorly recovered dash - was sun damaged/stretched at some point, not sure if this was repaired
anything else you guys remember?

Frankly, it's hard for me to read on here, it's not even funny. The overall condition of the car has visibly deteriorated, everything is being torn apart and reassembled with little love. It's the last turbo with a Mezger engine, the way you treat this car makes me really sad and is inappropriate. Just my 5ct.
I still wish good luck and hope that the car will be able to travel a few more miles in the end....

This car makes another appearance. Props to this guy for addressing some of the issues. At the end of the video it says "DM for quirks you inherit"

I can't believe it actually runs and drives after what we all saw done to it. Kudos to the current owner for fixing all the Jared butchery. I'm sure he's moved onto another BMW project where they have so many problems anyway, no one can tell what he caused vs what is just the charm of the brand and BMW experience.

OOF, not that any of us could not see how this was going to end from the start. Poor car.

That was painful.
What is funny is that this is a picture of my brothers motorcycle which he sold in 2022.... (See post #422 by OP) it was posted on the Aprilia forums. 33 pages of STORYTIME.
