Hey everybody,
i bought my first 911 like a month ago and have decided to document my journey so far
Beginning
Me and fish Flew out to denver colorado bought the car the whole thing was a **** Show.
DrOveE the car back to Ny from Denver
1960 miles of torrential down pour on the i80 and 1qt of 540 autzone garbage later we arrived home.
This car rocks. Its tip which i don't hate but wish it were something else at times. This car is my daily, and is Strongisland driven. So the tip is not my worst friend. 🙄
Slate grey
***
Turbo tip coupe
Mezger turbo
Wide body
116k miles as it sits today
sharkwerks coolant pipes (welded)
not sure how i feel about them being welded maybe others can chime in. My gut tells me i wish they were pinned.
thing ive done so far.
pdk steering wheel. still need to get the module
i also tried disconnecting front drive shaft today but it appears that it cannot be done on a tip.
or atleast as easily as a manual.
ive encountered a few minor issues when i had the car on the lift yesterday.
car needs rotors and pads
tierods
and also ive encountered this weird brake light issue.
so my left brake light went out the other day.
i replaced the bulb.
now when i turn my lights on the bulb is stuck on as if i were applying my brakes along with a check brake light error.
they supplied a 7528 bulb which does not properly fit! I made it fit and subsequently broke the piece the bulb goes into but it is still serviceable lol!
Th
as you can see. The 7528 bulb on the left, oe on the right. You can see the difference in orientation of the knubs.
Nice car and congrats. You can definitely disconnect the front drive shaft on the tip turbo. Just unbolt the flex disc and center mount and pull it out of the diff.
Curious how much you paid for it? Feel free to PM me. Welcome to the high mileage turbo club.
Jared, if you're new here, look up jeebus' thread on the high mileage Turbo he purchased and then brought back up to top spec. It will give you a great idea of what you'll need to do for longer term ownership of one of these higher mileage examples.

i paid 46k tax inclusive 🤷🏻♂️
Ahh ok, i tried taking the entire unit out. I will prob be deleting the entire awd system in like a week.
the extra understeer is annoying 🙄
Some power slides never killed nobody in the time being tho

Nice deal!
Removing the front diff is challenging on a 997TT and not nearly as straightforward as the 996TT. I haven't done it personally, but apparently the computer freaks out if you do a total AWD delete (i.e. removing the diff) without using replacement 997 GT2 bits. Of course... that's all hearsay so if you're up to the challenge, please report back! Removing the driveshaft seems to get the job done without cpu freakout in all but the most extreme track conditions.

Pete, thanks for the shoutout. I actually have the car up right now and after quite possibly the cheapest 997TT coolant leak repair, I am prepping to do the plugs, coils, oil (5W50), filter, and maybe even the WP if I am feeling super ambitious. Disassembly has started
Apologies OP for the threadjack. Excited for your new DD. Hope it treats you well!
