just for your comparison purposes, here is mine. One video for each side of the car, not as close to the engine as your video however.

These were taken a couple hundred miles after I bought the vehicle. Doesn't sound any different today.

Thanks for sharing. My car sounds very much like yours and has for over a year...it uses no oil.

Geez, I definitely hear a knock. I would try to return the car immediately, but that’s just me. If the warranty covers everything from a coolant pipe knocking to a new engine, then maybe keep it, but I’m skeptical of that. Regardless, those of you that have a knock that sounds like this, I would be checking the bore from top to bottom just to make sure.

An oil and filter change is in order. I would start with that.

The high frequency rattly or ticking sound is the normal one - it's the DFI injectors firing. The slower knocking sound I don't think is a normal sound. Whereas bank 2 in the 997.1 motors is the side more prone to scoring with issues in cylinders 4 and 6, the 997.2 is the exact opposite with problems, when they occur, showing up more often in cylinders 1 and 3.

Definitely get as invasive as you can while the warranty is still in effect. Send an oil sample to Blackstone as mentioned. You're looking for aluminum ppm numbers in the single digits for a healthy engine.

this is what mine sounded like when it got bore scoring and the sound was coming from the left side just like yours.

The two sound eerily similar, except yours was louder.

Thanks all. @bronz yes I agree similar sound with your last being a little louder. Trying to get it setup to be scoped. Bronz did you have yours scoped prior to getting it to Jake?

re: oil it was changed 5/1/19 and has about 100 miles on it - will oil sample be helpful?

yes it was an enclosed trailer. Looks like fluid of some kind leaked from another car.

No i didnt have it scoped, didnt want to waste any more money since i had metal shavings in the oil filter so it was pretty clear. Pull the filter and see if you can find anything in there, its really simple.

This probably doesn't help much but in the perspective of Moxy's post this AM - this is a pebble in your (anyone's) shoe.

As you've probably read or heard, make sure they scope the cylinders by dropping the oil sump. Apparently cylinder scoring materializes at the bottom of the cylinder first and can not be effectively identified by pulling a spark plug at the top of the cylinder.

I'm hoping that it is just a water pump going south. Someone else posted a similar noise and since it was coming from down low and the driver's side, it ended up being a water pump. However, after listening to your video side-by-side with Bronz', it doesn't sound good. Regardless, best to eliminate the cheap/easy things first.

That's great that you have a warranty. You can probably pursue one of two options: return the car to the dealer or have the engine replaced/rebuilt. From reading here, it sounds like some of these warranty companies are a pain to deal with, so I'm not sure if a 30-day dealer warranty is underwritten by the dealer or a third party company. Either way, you'll need to be very assertive and have all of the evidence very well documented.

I'm hoping for a quick and relatively easy resolution to this so you can start enjoying your car. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Thank you very much. Just dropped the car off - that is good advice. I will call now to make sure that the oil sump is dropped so that the cylinders can be inspected from the bottom end as well as the top end.

and Mexico - you are very right. Even worst case scenario it isn’t the end of the world. If it’s bad hopefully the seller will step up based on 1 month warranty.
