The Prestige Thread - Finest 996TT Market Finds

Ah, that splains it. I missed that little nugget in the write-up. I'm surprised that BaT lets people do that, but whatever (grumbling under my breath that they turned down the last car I submitted after I had 2 successful auctions in the past with them). But, I'll leave the comment that I posted that techweenie is a stand-up guy. No harm in showing a little love to a fellow 996tt forum member.

Interesting. Well, BaT can be intimidating for a seller, so if he can list and manage an auction on behalf of someone, then his time is worth the broker fee. And, he knows the 996tt very well, so I'd be comfortable either buying one from him or letting him sell one for me. (but I'm NEVER selling mine )

The owner of the Seal Gray car is a contractor with 4 concurrent house projects and not a high level of comfort with online activities, so he asked me to sell the car. It's a time capsule. Lives in a garage under a cover. For anyone looking to deal with the stress of owning a showroom-condition 996 Turbo, this would be it. For example, I can't find any deterioration in the carbon fiber.
I also was asked to sell an Atlas Gray Tip cab, but the owner died shortly after giving it to me to sell, and I'm awaiting probate. It would not be a 'prestige thread' car, but definitely has its appeal.
EDIT: The Seal Gray sold for $57,500 on Bringatrailer.

I took a fairly close look at it and took it for a drive.
.
Obviously you got to like Orient Red Metallic! The color IMHO looks better in person than in photos.

- Very few minor cosmetic flaws, i'd put it at a solid 9 out of 10 inside and out. (one caliper clear coat peeling, one tail light with tiny micro-cracks, on small scratch from the rear wiper I noticed.)
- Took it for a short drive. No signs of a tune, clutch felt fine, everything tight and as it should be, great running condition. Looked like fresh motor mounts.
- All stock that I noted, except for what looked like an aftermarket high flow air filter.

My car has a Savanna interior, but when I got the car it was all Savanna everywhere, which I agree doesn't age well. I swapped the Savanna carpet out for black carpet and it makes it look much less dated.

I don’t personally consider it a negative unless I can’t tell what tune it has; but I would appreciate your opinion.

Thanks... I've looked at and driven dozens of 996 Turbos, many stock, many modified. Always happy to check them out! I am often surprised at how much variation there is and how some have their own personalities...
This car made a steady .9 Bar of boost (X50 car) and didn't have the massive power I've come to expect out of even my mildly tuned turbo. Just what I would expect on a bone-stock X50 car.
I'd consider any random or unknown tune to be a negative. Actually, a BIG negative.
A Cobb tune *with the tuner box* included to be a positive, even if it is just off the shelf tunes.
A custom Markski tune also to be a positive, but again, only if documented and preferably with the tuner dongle...
I’m curious what you would look for to tell you there is a tune or has been a tune on the car?
Also if it did have a tune would you consider that a negative?
