I find that interesting that there would be that type of inconsistency - you can imagine the car going through the build process and then right at the end, as the assembler places that particular build sticker on the hood, it is a sticker for another car?

Maybe it was a Friday turbo.

For reference, the 991.2 also has the same sticker on the hood as the 996 does.

It looks like the hood sticker on the BaT car has very faded numbers/letters below the legible bold print. I can't make them out but they appear to be where the option codes normally are.

I was told those stickers were applied by the dealership that took delivery. That would explain the inconsistencies. There are other stickers under the hood of my car, just not an option sticker.

Many years ago I checked with a friend who works at PCNA and he told me the stickers were applied at the factory.

20 years takes its toll whether driven or not...

On many items, worse if it isn't driven! Looks like they just invested $4,000 getting it running, my guess is there is plenty more that needs to be done before it is fully sorted.

Yes, as in a final confirmation that this was in fact the car, optioned, as it rolled off the assembly line.

I have always heard that 996 generation and later, two stickers came in the owners manual and it was the dealer that (sometimes) removed one from the manual and applied it to the frunk during PDI.

Previous generations may have been factory applied...

I don't really know the answer to that, but that's why I am curious. All turbos I have seen, mine included, have been equipped with the same sticker I posted above.

It seems odd, to me at least, that a same vintage car would not have this - in fact, it looks as if the BAT car and my car were built within a couple of months of one another.
