I had a couple Corvairs and they were a blast, thought the Spyder had dual 2 barrels? But I'm no expert on Corvairs. I believe I am thinking of the Corsa with 4 carbs http://www.corvaircorsa.com/4carbs.html

I owned a 1968 British car and drove the hell out of it. I never read anything in the owner's manual that suggested the car wasn't meant to be driven.

No bait. I really want to know what the line "meant to be driven" means relative to Porsches. Are BMW's or cars manufactured by Mercedes Benz not "meant to be driven"? How about Corvettes or Mustangs; are they not meant to be driven? I'm thinking all cars and trucks were meant to be driven. Do you think that Porrsche does something to their cars that somehow makes them more "meant to be driven" than cars that BMW, or MB, or Volvo, or Ford, of Toyota produce?

I haven't ever owned a car where the manufacturer suggested that the car wasn't meant to be driven.

Conventional wisdom is that cars do better if they get used regularly.

I can tell you that German cars in general and perhaps Porsches in particular (well, they used to anyway) fare better under hard or track use than most others from my experience. I remember one of the first Hondas I put on track needed a transmission at under 20k miles, a clutch shortly thereafter, burned valve, factory bushings slipping out of control arms etc. etc. Going with a BMW track car, most of the drivetrain lasted me well over 100k miles, but it did go through water pumps, cooling system parts, etc. A 996 Carrera or GT3 was tougher in comparison, only needing the occasional repair in addition to regular maintenance (spun rod bearing, blowing out an air/oil separator, etc. still happened, just nowhere near as often). But of course, again, all cars break. Some break less often, some are easier to fix, but they all break. For me, I’d rather be tracking a late 90s or early 2000s Porsche than a similar vintage British or American car, that’s for certain. Sorry for the rant!

Hey, let's get this thread back on topic, OK?
I'll start:
Ahmet, is that kitten in your avatar attacking or surrendering? I've always wondered.

Default Basalt in the bay area sampling.

very interesting car here. the sharkwerks reference could mean the coolant lines have been done.

low miles, maybe a bit over priced? discuss.

Both black over saddle (the first one says "cinnamon", which I suppose could be Boxster red - no interior pics?). I really like that combo. Seems like the inevitable spring price increase may be taking effect here: $49,000 is not too bad for the first car, but $38,000 for a salvage title car with well over 70k miles is pretty strong money. Good luck to both of them - hope they get the $$ they are looking for.
On the salvage title car, the tinted headlights would have to go. Some of the interior carbon fiber looks forced, especially the pieces around the side air vents. The seats haven't held up especially well either. Of course, those are gonna be minor things to any buyer willing to live with a salvage title in the first place.

Cinnamon is the darker tan color. I have a set of oem gt3 seats in that color. Waiting for the 996TT that I find. Ya that guy is smoking some really good crack to believe he's going to sell a Porsche with a salvage title over 30k. Just look at the ford blue one. That thing is still not sold.

I'm thinking the only folks that might buy the salvage cars would be looking for a track car. I can't see someone shopping for a 996tt that would spend 30 or so k on a salvage car, especially when you could pretty easily rack up some serious $$ bringing it up to spec/making everything work and look right. That said, I wish them luck and hope they are able to get what they are after for the cars.
