Yeah, I get it - I just hate seeing folks fight like this in a medium that loses so much due to the lack of intonation in typed words.

Well, they both have a point, and I truly don’t think ABSTAND was trying to diss pancing’s car. But I can understand how it came across that way to pancing. Even though a higher mileage tippy isn’t worth as much as a lower mileage 6-speed, it’s still a great car and one to be proud of.

pancing - when I first got my 996tt (which was my 4th Porsche), it got denounced here in this forum as a ragged out piece of track trash, even though it’s an X50 6-speed with a some very desirable mods. Hell, one guy in here even went on a crusade to have me banned - I had the audacity to say that cars selling in the $30k’s aren’t all POS’s.

Aww, he mellowed out when his sidekick disappeared. Heck, someday I might even un-ignore him.

Only one seems to have a valid point.

Opinions will vary though.

I agree Dock, Pancing's comment '85k Tip' is a factual representation of what is more desirable within the 996 model range; Abstand took it personally.

The take away here is now we all know that Abstand has a POS 85k tip... and to GWITTs point - I think Abstand is proud of it.

And back to our regular programming, here’s a nice 28k mile example for sale locally to me.

It probably belongs in the Prestige Thread, but I did find it on Craigslist, so . . .

Eh my car is 80k 01 manual, its not desireable to anyone but me. Zipties and plastic bonder hold it together.

According to the ad, the price was recently dropped by over $3,000. He’s probably had it on his lot for a while and is trying a fire sale price before dumping it back at the auction. 996tt tiptronics are wonderful cars, and this one would be a great buy for someone who actually plans to drive the car. Not every car can be a low-mileage, pristine garage queen. And thank God for that - I’d much rather enjoy driving a higher mileage car compared to obsessing over every mile and rock chip I put on a garage queen.
Great comment J, I completely agree. When I was looking there was a local tip with 116K (IIRC) that I drove and was priced well at 32K. Figured he'd take 29-30 pretty easily. Ultimately, I passed on it because I wanted a manual and didn't want to compromise my "dream/me" car, and I paid a lot more for a 3rd pedal. The owner of that tip is on here too, it's a great car.

I have considered picking up a lower price, higher mileage tip for a DD, but the better half won't go for it until I clear our some other vehicles first. Tips are great, especially if you are urban and sit in traffic a lot.
