There is a chance that the faux GT2 is a decent car, but also a pretty good chance that there are lots more things monkeyed with in a not-so-perfect way... Its one I wouldn't even consider unless I was local and could do a thorough personal inspection, including on a lift, before even thinking about an offer or paying for a shop ppi.

I'll bet the selling dealer knows next to nothing about the details of modifications and work done to the car...

The "pts" blue caliper color doesn't bother me that much, but if it's a sloppy on-the-car rattle car paint job, that would be a no, and I'm guessing that's exactly what it is as the retaining pin also looks painted...

Man I love GT2's, and I know how special they are, but now that 996 GT2's are $140K?

You can get a lower mileage 991.1 Turbo S for ~$125K! $15K worth of track upgrades and it would absolutely annihilate a 996 GT2 on the circuit and be way more of a street car at the same time. Yup, apples and potatoes, but while the 996 turbo is a ridiculous performance bargain, 996 GT2's not so much.

As I said, I'm happy to go look- grew up in a Porsche house, worked in a bodyshop before college, and own a modded tt.

If the once over looks good, S Car Go is just down the street from there. Not too many other shops more qualified to comment on a modded tt. I'm thinking by the oem-looking GT2 wing (what does that cost? $7k?) and the quality of the caliper refinish, that the car may have been a quality mod job.

I am very likely going to be in San Rafael on Friday, so I feel almost compelled to stop at Sonnen VW to have a look at the faux GT2.

Carfax tells an interesting story

"sideswipe collision" is a concerning phrase.

Also looks like someone ppi'd it at S Car Go and bought it last week. Maybe they'll show up here...

Gotta love an ad that screams "Investment grade!" and then in the fine print at the end says "This is a used car please keep your expectations in check". Such BS.

Wow, that is one of the worst for sale ads I've ever seen. He sounds like an angry old man. Better stay off his lawn if you show up to look at the car. The car may be worth his "Buy It Now" price, but I still wouldn't even consider it given the tone of that ad.

Nice color combo.

Seller is begging to be trolled. Not that I would do anything like that.

I have to admit that is a stunning color combo. However, this statement puzzles me:
I spent good 10+ hours researching every state and eBay for 996 Turbos!
9 total in a country of 350 million people!

Is he saying there are only nine 996TTs for sale in the US?
Also, just noticed the "$599 consignment fee".

Good looking car for sure - minus the wood trim, which isn't permanent. If the car checks out and is well maintained, I don't think $50K is out of the realm for that color combo, 21K miles, and tippy.

That color combo on a 21K mile 6-speed easy mid 50s in this market.

Last night I was watching a recent Barrett Jackson auction and saw a 50K mile silver X50 manual car go for $60K + fees.

Huh!?! That color combo on a manual 21k miles is closer to $70k than to $60k in this market. At mid 50s it would get flipped twice.
