4 3/4" has a 3/4" gap when lowered. That's why I went 4".

If there are no leaks, why the re-bleed? Did u replace the 8 copper seals?

let me re-phrase. yes. there *must* be a leak. but it wasn't at the rams ( where usually ) but rather at the seam near the bracket if that makes sense? no replacement of the copper bits but we sandpapered the ( two? ) and just re-installed. it took *3* refills to equalize the sides L/R.

bottom line was. the motors fine, receptacle was low on fluid and is now topped off. it's only amusing given i said a day ago that i was on my 3rd re-bleed. next morning drive? i had to keep adjusting my rear view mirror as something looked askance! sure enough one side was slow UP and then didn't fully retract. all good ( again ). catch it early? and well. what else can i say. 45 mins of messing with it but my pal is a pro.. all good.

I am glad you got er done. I just did a ram replacement on passenger side, flush twice, refill and bleed. Fluid was definitely dirty, but the job wasn’t too difficult, as I performed the work on my bench. I replaced the 8 copper seals at a cost of $.64 total. I did a 24 hour leak test on the bench, and all was good. Did you do your bleed in the car or on the bench?

So, was your leak near the top of the ram or at the pump area?

pump area..it was seemingly at the *seam* where the bracket is. and even then only determined as there was dirty residue. no *visible* leak(s). bled on bench with entire wing upside down ( cant be done without a full removal obviously! ) and lotsa rags lol, power sourced w speaker wire to run the pump etc from a connection right in front of one of the DV"s ( never knew THAT was there(?) snap open flap thing? ). ( what IS that anyway(?). but the rams are good! dodged another expensive bullet. of course i've had my "fixed wing Ebay solution ( ahem ) bag'o bolts" now for years still unused.

by now? i bet rennkit dave marvels at my tenacity lol

+1

I purchased a complete system on eBay for $150 in good working condition, although I changed the fluid bleed, and etc. So now I have a newer (2011 date code on the pump) to use as a spare and/or parts.

Maybe Dave will offer a group buy in the future, so we won’t have to mess with this stuff?

dave was kind enough to make me that offer when he intro'd the e-ram kits years ago. though, i have by now no doubt lost the chance to be an "early adopter" lol. i've said may times.. i can see dave's kit in the cars future.. but hey. as long as a dollars worth of lucas stop leak is buying me TIME? well...

btw mfarrell. that was a score $150! as i was thinking i was gonna need at the very least a new pump! good for you! cheers.

Started it up for the first time in a couple of weeks. Then, changed the oil. Since I had it done by my indy last time (he was doing some other work), it ended up taking me a couple of hours (when it should have taken 20 minutes) because I hadn't changed it myself in a couple of years. After getting it up on my 4-post lift and removing the engine case plug, I had to think where the dry sump reservoir drain was. That took way longer than it should have (almost had to Google it). I left the turbo drains alone. Then, I had to scrounge around and find my oil filter wrench. Once I found it and messed around with it unsuccessfully for about 10 minutes, I realized that I bought another one that actually worked. Scrounge around for another 10 minutes to find that one. Then, fiddled around with 2 different funnels to get one that worked without pouring oil all over the back of my car and engine (I just love where they put that oil filler). Finally, I was extra paranoid about not overfilling, so even though I removed just over 7 liters of oil, I started with putting in 6 liters and checking the oil level, then of course 2 more rounds of adding small amounts to get it to the middle of the "low" and "full" marks on the gauge. A professional mechanic I am not. Was still fun to get under the car, look around, lubricate the wastegate actuators and get dirty.

Attended the PCA San Gabriel Region Concours De Elegance along with the Zuffenhausen meet.Sunday at Santa Anita Race Park on the infield. Top 996tt.GT2 Concours were out in full force. Was able to take the win with the help of my better other half for her great detailing patience and able to reach areas I couldn't get to. Thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, members and attendees for making it a memorable day.

Oak, it's clearly the Pegasus stickers that provide your GT2-beating mojo! Well done!
