What did you do to your 996TT today?

So, today, SDEMatt, gave me the opportunity to drive his 996, with a Markski tune, and yet to be defined turbos...
I could immediately tell that even though they were not flowing what my K24s were, they were absolutely hitting harder down low than my x50 setup was.
It was a bit disappointing that his GT3 clone decided to eat the biscuit as this would have left hi turbo in my hands for longer, butttttt, I must say for city driving, k16 hybrids are most certainly desirable, and I look forward to spending some more time with his turbo...
Also, his interior is so much better than my dog trodden interior is, was...

What do I like more? Both. I think my car is better suited for long, leisurely highway drives, Matt's car can do the same, but it is a little more frenetic down low, with less top end than mine. He also needs an exhaust, which will probably aid in the top end power delivery. His car was also equipped with Cup tyres, which, were totally AWESOME in every sense of the word, and quite frankly, is making me rethink my Falken RT660 order, which have still not arrived. Interesting observation on the cup tyres - Matt's car is equipped with stock suspension and I could tell (and feel) the stock shocks were having a hard time compensating for the extremely stiff sidewall in the tyre, especially over rough or uneven pavement. But on smooth asphalt, wow. So much want.
Once the clone is sorted out, I may spend a bit more time in his turbo - his interior, devoid of any evidence of dog - is absolutely perfect and is something I most certainly am aspiring to. His car is so very clean, no chassis creak or groan and has a lovely color combo with blue over black. Hopefully, he will let me play with it again.

graphic but clearly understood. -- and why i will never swap out my 16/24's. best of both worlds yet nothing ( ahem ) "nuts" lol.

Guys with K24's should consider the hybrid billet 18G wheel upgrade and larger injectors. You will require a stronger clutch, but the power is incredible. I started with K16's, went to K16/24's, then purchased new K24's to hybrid to K24/18G. I preferred the K24/18G setup way over all the others, quick spool (with supporting mods) and relentless power. It's an easy upgrade if you have an X50 car. The car trapped 134 MPH and drove like OEM. IMO, it's a perfect upgrade for X50 996TT.

So I took the 996 Turbo out for a long drive today....
I've been driving the new C8 on most of the decent days lately, getting it past break-in miles so I could what it really could do or taking the 991 Turbo S. The 2001 Turbo has been mostly sitting as I shuffled it into a back garage space. But out it went today...
As I pulled up to the meet point, gave it a quick rev just to hear the amazing exhaust note, jumped out and proclaimed to all my car buddies... "Damn, I LOVE this car!"
This was yesterdays drive... Swapping off between the new C8 Z51 HTC and this *gorgeous* 355 Berlinetta...

Brought out of hibernation this weekend. Lots of winter projects - CSF rads, Alternator, Front upper strut mounts, a/c compressor, new rotors and pads, motor mounts.
The X50 is no comparison to my 99 c2. In all fairness, the c2 got my through another MN winter.
Summer projects for the c2, then repeat. love these machines.

Thanks for the kind words, @2fcknfst . Car is a joy to drive, pleasure to own, except for the initial sorting from the previous owner. As we chatted about, once the Lotus and GT3 clone are completely finished, I'll get back into the meat and potatoes of the Turbo and go with the KW coilovers. I love the Cup 2 tire though - was thinking about going with the Cups on the GT3 clone, as well.

I'm half way through replacing the plugs and coils on my 2004. Catching up on deferred maintenance since I bought the car a year ago. So far I've replaced rotors and pads, hydraulic rams for the roof, fresh gear oil in front diff and transmission, touched up some scuffs on the driver's seat and dash, pulled front bumper and cleaned the radiators. Next up will be coolant flush.

I think they were originals with about 70,000 miles on them.. There were fracture lines around all the holes drilled through the rotors. They looked rough. Kept the same size but went with Sebro slotted rotors instead of cross drilled and Hawk pads
