Like I said, I question that an official would direct LEOs to not enforce all speeding laws.

Do you think that is because cops decided or because supervisors/etc approved?
So you think that fewer officers on the road means that those officers who are on the road are not enforcing the law?

It just seems like you're caught between a rock and a hard place with anything other than the stock exhaust.

The tips are not as much of an issue as the noise is - I , frankly, do not find the Speedtech all that loud; I like it on the highway, I can talk on the phone, talk to anyone in the car, works for me and I wouldn't have changed it if these issues had not shown up in the last few months.

Today, the City announced it will likely go insolvent without a significant cash injection from the Province. I am of two minds on this, 1) the fuzz may lose interest in enforcing this silliness, or 2) it may get worse.

Do you have blued tips on your sti exhaust?

No stock exhaust comes with blued tips so... Yeah see if you can at least coat the tips.

When I listen to sound clips of the new one, it sounds much quieter than the comparable Speedtech one. Before I made this decision, I had a chat with Cobb about using the stocker with the exiting maps, and the idea of building a more customized tune later on. They have advised against it citing back pressure as the restriction. I suppose, another option may be to use the stocker and go without cats, but I don't really see that helping as the cats are pretty efficient.

Yes, lotsa fun.

Stainless, with a sodding great restrictor in it.

Its MUCH quieter than speedech.
You have actual mufflers on the ap exhaust vs straight piping on speedtech.

do you up there have an equivalent of our "CA Air Resources Board"? down here "they" can flag your exhaust if it's aftermarket and it doesn't have an official "CARB number" rendering it "legal" for use. in the same way it's all but impossible to get "legal" aftermarket CATS here.

I've never heard of anyone having to pull their exhaust for it, but do know of issues where a smog station tech wouldn't pass it for smog testing. then serious jumping thru hoops often with a "BAR" referee is required. or back to the stocker.
It is unclear what precipitated this here in BC; initially, it looked like the coppers were focusing on young Asian drivers in expensive cars, until I got nailed, then I took it personally. We have the BC Motor Vehicles Act which is basically a modified version of the Federal Transport Act (passenger vehicles) and the problem I have with this is that it is not being enforced in a civilized manner - when I spoke to Porsche Vancouver a couple weeks ago, they told me that a current model GT# could exceed 100db with its exhaust valves open, so my question is one of fairness to all motorists; if Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini are producing cars that exceed the base level DB standards, a) how are these cars getting into the country and b) the standard should be uniform especially if my STI is BELOW the legal limit in noise production.

My M5, with a valved exhaust, wails under load, and it's legal.

Super frustrating, and I will win the current dispute, I just don't want to keep doing court on stuff like this - it is counter productive.
