What did you do to your 996TT today?

Replaced my front brake pads after my last track day. Driving home from Laguna Seca my Brake wear indicator flickered. Then the next it was on all the time. SO i dug into to see what was required for the Brembo GT 6 piston 355mm kit i have. my rotor were still in spec at 1.235 with the minimum stamped on them of 1.221. No markings on the pad so i did some digging and found the proper pads in the Hawk HPS. it sounded like a similar compound to the standard issue Brembo pads that i thought were in there. The hawk pad set was $200, if i could find the Brembos it looked like they were going to be $300+. I was told they would use the OEM sensors but no way. Also could not find new shims. so the pads went in with the old shims cleaned up and no sensors. Now i need to dig into Brembo part numbers to find the sensors and probably new shims.
They say Laguna is hard on brakes, well it looks like it from the state of my pads. Interestingly my brakes felt better than ever after Laguna. Maybe it the thin pads, kind of like shaved tires. It is amazing how evenly they wear. The Brembo BBK is pricey (they came on the car, one of the reasons i bought it) but man do they work well. Just plain awesome on the track and on the street, great feel.
A little cracking, when i replace i will still go with drilled due to the OEM Porsche look
These were still working great
The pads are bigger than the ones on my 3/4 ton chevy truck

I think you could've gotten a few more runs out of those.

Certainly could have done more commuting with them. But i would not have gone to another track day. Turn 2 at Laguna makes you want to trust your brakes. Towards the end of the day i was finally able to not lift through turn 1 and was coming in pretty hot to turn 2.

Rotor cracking is normal on our cars just don't let it connect 2 or more holes and you're fine.. With pads I measure them and downgrade them to using for half-days or street use only when there is ~1/3 of pad material left.
You can also just disconnect the pad wear sensors and jumper the wires together and zip them out of the way if you're going to check them regularly.

I was joking, those pads are done. Nice work. Rotors are fine though.

Cut 'em, solder 'em, epoxy shrink tube 'em, and zip tie them out of the way!

This is what truely hammered rotors look like. I am still going to do one more DE with them. Then I will go with slotted.

Put a new gas cap on. The plastic retaining strap has been broken since I got it but I just got round to it.
Nearly pulled instead of pushing on the little plastic rivet - that would have been bad. Was going to put it into a rivet gun...
