Ahem...now back to our regular scheduled programming:
If we go back to Noble advice on post #2 on this thread - I tried it yesterday. It works and is the correct way to get that GT# to maximize is rev range and the gearbox.
Noble:
"you dont need to, you should be in 2nd for 5 a and b up to top of 4th gear( approx 252KMH before braking) on straight. you downshift to third at 8,down to second for 9 and 10, up to third for 1. and the top of third at the entrance to turn 2 and all the way thru it. 4th at turn 3...back to 3rd for 3 to the top of 4 ( redline at top of 4) then thru 4 in 3rd and back to second for 5 a and b....the only spot where gearing might have helped is a taller 3rd for entering turn 2."

I am at 235 on the back straight with room and rpm for more (700 rpm) - i just fear death.
3rd maxes out perfcectly for 1 and 2.
Again - I can stay in 3rd until and through 3 because to hit 4th before 3 requires ***** (mine were unfortunately lost flipping my dirt bike too many times) but 4th would give you 10-15kmh.
I think you can pull 4th to hit 190 between 3 and 4 (I actucally can do this)
You can 3 or 4 down 4 depending on the speed you can carry emotionally :0
down to 2 for 5
up to 4 until your heart drops out for the 5 to 8 run and then...
down to 3 for 8
I tried down to 2 vs 3 for 10 - not enough revs left for 2 so 3 is best.
Thats the plan...and I did over 400 km to check it out.

I bet you guys would be surprised at how little braking you actually must do if you wanted to minimize it prior to 8. You can scrub a ton of speed during the turn itself just by turning. I did a nice drift on Tuesday!

Im 230ish in my car; I can probably get a bit more (maybe 240 tops), but 1) I could do 5ab better and 2) I too wish to live. Actually, most times I just keep it in 4th, which redlines at 210, for the last 25% of the straight because Id rather not have to deal with shifting through 8 and then again (to 3rd) entering 9. Im back in 4th late in the front straight and I stay there till 5a (3rd), 5b (2nd). NSXs have very different gearing.

Im entering 4 slower than you GT3. Im 170ish. I also lazy brake at the bottom . Come to think of it, I probably lazy brake everywhere!

I am not questioning if Nobel is a good guy or not He's probably a great guy. But that still doesn't allow him to defy the laws of physics. Unless someone has some proof of supposed greatness, I am going to question it...every time.

So, after all the bravado, we are looking at an undocumented best time of 1:38. Traffic or not, that just does not equate to a sub 1:30. Oh, and btw, even I run faster than 1:38 (and my times are AMB times from last years race and available on PCA.org), and I've never ridden let alone raced a motorcycle.

Btw, did you ever hook up with Rick to rent the cup? I was still hoping to see you'd come "kick all the *** in PCA"

The really fast guys don't downshift for 8. They do a tiny tap and go.

For me the biggest pucker turn is 4. Most people fear 2, but 4 is so much faster. I passed a guy in last years race on the outside of 4 and going into 5, and let me tell you I still have a scrunch mark in my seat.

So since you didn't get below 1:30, should I assume you're now parting out your car? I might be interested in the wheels...

Seriously, 1:38 on street tires is a good time.

The Top of fourth is only good for 235kmh! do the math... to hit 250+ you need to be in fifth at 7000rpm..

The guys at the event all said he is a good driver.. the GT3 is very fast and low 1.30's is possible. My previous Z06 on Toyo's which is just as quick as the GT3, it did a 1.32 at the Solo 1 event. with the right driver a good tire it could happen with the GT3.

Probably so, but that's 2+ seconds slower than the target time that sparked all this fun. A 1:32 in a GT3 on MPSCs with a phenomenal driver, possibly. Sub 1:30? I'd still like to see it.

you run faster than a 1.38 in a street car at a track event with all levels of driver on the track with you and passing only allowed on the front straight, main straight and between 3 and 4?? ok now i gotta se the video!

i emailed rick it bounced, i pm'd him he never responded...i did not call....my competition licence is motorcycle not car and i dont care to run around getting medicals and dropping 10 grand or more ?? to rent a cup car to say i told you so. only people who know me on here and have seen me drive have commented and they include regular people, 2 PCA instructors and a pro racer...so if i cant convince you nothing can

why doesnt 4th at redline equal 250 if 5th at 7000 equals it?? our speedos are off or yours is...more likely they all are. GT3 can do it...997S cant...

If you think back I asked the question on how fast people are going on the Mosport straight, I wanted to gear my car for it to be at 8000 rpm at 148 mph.

According to Brian copans the AMLS GT3 guys are doing 150+ mph, so i did not think we could go faster than that.

I do not go by the speedo.. it's rpm x gear ratios x tire diameter.
When I regeared my car I looked into this.
