What color is that? That could almost tempt me to a RWD car!
Don't know if the color options changed by 2003, but my 03 C4S is "Midnight Blue Metallic" over a beige interior. Quite nice.

It's nice that the seller has disassembled the engine, determined the failure mode, and defined the parts needed to those specific bits - 'crank and rod bearings'. I'm sure the rest of the engine is pristine and will require no further bits to get it running. Uh-huh.

18k for a roller, even with good paint. Hope he's got a place for it to park for a while.

Thanks for doing your part to raise our values!

Congrats. I'm usually not a SG fan, but I like it with the Aero (I don't think I've seen one before actually...). But it could just be my bias towards the MkI Aero cars

Well, there was that guy that bought the cabriolet recently for $64,000, remember? Hurdi kept trying to say it was only worth $30k. Freaking Hurdi, driving down the prices.

Been on for three weeks. C4S under 20k, miles aren't too high. Too bad a three spoke wheel. If it wasn't silver, I'd be all over it like stink on an atty.

....was this the dealer's website? If so, I'm the new owner

Got him down to 19k...it was black Friday and there was a lack of recent service history, got it inspected & borescoped and it all checked out. It's being delivered now.

For the record, I kinda like the 3-spoke wheel better than the 4-spoke. Call me weird.

Yeah, I think that's the one. I was thinking it was in Warrenton, but Wright City is next door, so it's gotta be it. Congrats on your purchase. It was priced low, so you had to know it wasn't going to last on the market very long.
So, tell us about it. Not so much here on the NA 996 forum, but in the 996tt forum, the prevailing sentiment among some is that anything that's priced "cheap" has got to be a complete piece of shxx. For example, although I felt like I paid fair market value for my 996tt in September, when I said what I paid for it, there were several guys who immediately called it "junk" and "garbage" without even seeing it.
It would be nice to hear in detail what was good and not so good about it. I'm certain that it must have had a few needs - even the really nice, higher priced cars are still used cars and aren't perfect. It would be great to see some pics also.

Thanks! I'll definitely keep you guys posted when it arrives at my doorstep. It looked surprisingly clean for the mileage and I've been shopping around for awhile trying to find a really good deal (I'm in no rush to buy a 996 even though I was in the market) and it did almost seem too good to be true. I did my homework; the dealership bought it off auction so they didn't have any previous owner info on hand. Carfax and Autocheck were clean...tried to get in touch with the shop that the previous owner had it serviced at but it was recently closed and reopened and they had no service information on the car.

So yeah, the purchase was a risky purchase and the mechanic was just a local mechanic about 10 minutes away from the dealership..definitely not ideal, but he had nothing bad to say about the car other that the front rotors look moderately worn but the pads look brand new. He was suprised how clean the engine looked, tires were new, plugs looked OK, and he said all 6 cylinders had no or negligible scoring.

I've ordered an IMSB for some peace of mind and plan to get it installed right away. I'm no wrench, but I have a close family friend who's a mechanic (and owns a 82' 911 himself). While he's under there, if anything needs to be replaced I'll bite the bullet.

justince - I was just looking at auction data from Manheim. It looks like your car may have sold at the auction for $21,200 in July, which means the dealer had about $21,500 in it after the buyer's fee. Now, the one reported on the Manheim auction website sold in St. Louis and was a silver 2003 C4S, but it had about 10,000 less miles on it. Certainly could have been that the dealer bought it 4 months ago to drive himself and drove it 10,000 miles in those 4 months. But, since the asking price was almost $2,000 less than the dealer's cost, that's still a pretty good deal for you in anybody's book.
I've got a dealer's license. Normally, I'll buy a car at auction, drive it for several months and then sell it for what I paid for it. Sometimes I make a few hundred dollars, and sometimes I lose a few hundred dollars. I normally just try to break even and figure I make out by getting to drive a cool car for several months for free.

^ Interesting. By any chance is Divioso's first name "Zach"?
