You guys are more laid back than the land rover forum guys. (a good thing)

They have many more head gaskets and front drive shaft threads than IMS over here, and if you ask a unrelated question there it turns into a highjack flame war.

Probably not far off. There is a herd of dead cow crammed into that damn car. When the transmission was out a few weeks ago I was surprised to see that it wasn't covered in leather!

So what's with the 419.99? I know where you started it, but you seem to be referencing something I'm forgetting about

If you're talking about the P38 head gasket , I remember it . One of the reasons I no longer own a ranger rover.

Rubik - Thanks (I think), but the simple fact is that I'm still sitting here with no 996 in the garage. If I were as good as you say I am, I would've figured out how to get that car for the money I was willing to pay!

It takes a lot of self control to keep waiting for the one that exactly matches your wants. I commend you!

There was also a separate code for making the steering wheel leather, and then there was another one that just went nuts with leather to the point that the AC vent slats are leather.

If there was an option labeled "leather", we checked it on our build and it's a crazy amount of leather. I think having all the leather options like ours is almost as rare as the sunroof delete (which we also checked ) though.

Basically I just like to be an *** about having more leather than anyone else
I'll chime in that my '99 Aero has full leather over everything except the roof (which appears to be vinyl) and the horseshoe and vents are plastic. Seatbacks, dash, doors, and A-pillar trim are all leather. I don't know what else was available for '99.

Now that I have the sticker in front of me, we have:

Somewhere in there we ended up with an Alcantera roof liner too.

For the record the rest of the options are:
Black Metallic
Comfort Package
Advanced Technic Package
GT Package
Heated Front Seats Package
"High Gloss" TurboLook 18" Whl
Delete Sunroof
Footwell Lighting

Interesting black on black 996tt in Ontario. Has a lemon law buyback title for a noisy transmission that has been replaced. Tiptronic. Tuned. Has several minor issues. Rough paint. Still waiting on an opening bid of $14,000.

We wanted that, but they nixed the option for 01 and then brought it back in 02

Sure looks like it. Reminds me of the old adage that beauty may only be skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone.
