Very nice!! Getting warmer . . . strongly prefer black interior. Would take higher miles to get the price down to the $35k range - doubt this seller would drop $7k or $8k.
Thanks for the lead!

Appreciate the offer. I've got a bro in Sandy Eggo that is an indy mechanic, he's going to look at it first. If it makes it past him, I might hit you up for some 911 professional eyes on it.

Well what are you waiting for???? That wood trim would have to go though. Price is right in your wheelhouse with almost half the miles you've been looking for in that range.

Must haves: Guards Red, Speed Yellow, Cobalt Blue or a distant 4th is Seal Gray (assuming it has some tasteful bling to make it stand out). 6-speed. Black interior. Leather dash. Very good maintenance history or recent major service. Price $35k or below (so realistically asking price of $37k or less).
High miles OK. Good quality mods OK. Minor accident history OK if evidence of quality repairs.

Nice to haves: comfort leather package for the seats or sport seats, alumalook gauges, upgraded stereo/nav, tasteful premium wheels.

Timing wise, looking at after Labor Day purchase, probably more like October/November time frame. Although, if the right one came along, I could pull the trigger now.

Ugh . . . Don't ask. My son bought it at the auction to drive for a while, then flip. He bought it "as is" knowing it needed to be sorted out. A new accessory battery solved some problems, but it still has a hydraulic roof problem that we'll have to rebuild all of the cylinders to fix correctly ($1,100 + DIY labor). Then there is a problem with the Active Body Control. I haven't tried to diagnose the problem, but I am leaning heavily toward converting to a Strutmasters coil over package for about $2,100 (plus DIY labor). I converted a Lincoln Mark VIII LSC to coil overs a few years ago, so that shouldn't be too hard.
Problem is we will be out of convertible season, so I'll probably have it til March. Not the end of the world - gives me a reason to be patient and wait for the right 996TT.
It has taught my son the perils of buying a high-end European car at the auction. I still have never had the cajones to buy a Porsche at auction - I just think there's too much risk of someone trying to unload a bad engine via the auction.

2001 996tt with 58k miles on ebay with a buy it now of $21k. Guards red over gray. Tiptronic.

The bad news: salvage title and a transmission problem. Also needs an ignition switch, but that's a $12 fix.

Not too far from me if someone wants eyes on it. I go by there once a week or so. But gosh, $21k for a problem car with Turbo? It could be a great deal, or it could be the Edmund Fitzgerald.

I believe 2001 Turbo Tip parts are hard to come "buy".

I really shouldn't be interested, but Doc, if you don't mind checking it out . . . My sister lives in Allen, so would be easy to go get it.
Looks like limp home mode is normally triggered by some electrical problem.
