2004 Porsche GT3, Track Mods - $56000
https://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/5176740202.html

1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 4
This is at a Dodge Dealer so I am sure the $19,000 is probably $14,500 cash.

Jeez. For 77k that interior is looking in sad shape. Ours has lived outside with zero protection and only one treatment of the leather for 15 years and at 70k it looks brand new compared to that thing!

I'd be interested to plug in a Durametric to see if the cluster reports the same VIN as the chassis...

Nope. At least not the "when we say full leather we REALLY mean full leather" version. The horseshoe, side vents and CD storage are plastic, not to mention the vent slats.

Nice looking car though.

Porsche 911 Carrera | eBay

The bad news: salvage title and a transmission problem. Also needs an ignition switch, but that's a $12 fix.
Well, I followed this car over to Copart.com, the salvage/insurance vehicle auction after the ebay auction ended without a bid. It just sold for $22,500 on copart.com a few minutes ago. Plus the buyer (out of California) will have another $710 in fees to pay the auction plus shipping costs (probably $800+). I think it could have been bought on ebay for $19,600 (that's what the opening bid was, but the seller never got an ebay bid). I was hoping that I could swipe it for $17k or $18k off Copart.com, but no such luck.

I did some research on the car, pulled a couple of history reports, and found a previous owner on 6speedonline. It was salvaged when it was 1 year old with 3,000 miles for an accident that cost $7,451 to fix at a Porsche dealer in Los Angeles. Then, went to Dallas for the next 12 years between 2 owners (one for 8 years and one for 4 years). The one bought it right after the salvage repair was a professional baseball player from Dallas who played in the Tampa Bay farm system (not really relevant, but interesting). He was the 6speedonline member and kept the car stock. Looks like the next owner was the one who did the "GT2 RS" replica (?) stuff to it. Was planning to reverse those abominations if I got it.
The dealer who had it for sale today seemed desperate to sell in the ebay ad, citing an ignition switch problem (easy DIY fix) and a transmission problem. The symptoms of the tranny problem were "limp home mode under full throttle". I really think that is a non-tranny problem - could be something as simple as a vacuum leak in the intercooler tubes or needed a reflash of what looks like an A-GEN-CY Power tuning kit.
So, thinking I might be able to snag it for $18k +/- on copart.com plus buyer fees plus $600 to ship it and figure another $2k or $3k to get it sorted out, it seemed like a good deal and I could always flip it when the ideal car came along (and hopefully make a few bucks).
At $22,500 Copart bid plus all that other stuff, that puts you at $27k+, and you still have a car with a salvage title and a tiptronic. Meh. I wasn't that excited about it in the first place. The search continues . . .

KC, I'd hate to have you as an enemy. You' seem like a patient and cunning sort of fellow; two very dangerous things in an enemy. Let's be friends OK?

ah, still lurking and learning. Saw the dash stitching and thought it was full. I have been looking for a 996 C4S but may give this car a look since it's fairly priced.

Off topic, do all C4S cars have full leather? I feel like I remember reading that they have full leather like the turbo, but cannot find via search where I saw that.

Why off topic? It's not like you're asking about antique Rolexes.

I think they are all full leather.

There are levels of full leather. I think the most common (maybe standard on later cars?) is the "full leather" which includes the seats, dash, and door cards? Then there was (for 01 anyway) a second full leather option that gets the seat backs, trans tunnel, surrounds and faces of the center console items, the horseshoe, and around the vents. There was also a separate code for making the steering wheel leather, and then there was another one that just went nuts with leather to the point that the AC vent slats are leather.

If there was an option labeled "leather", we checked it on our build and it's a crazy amount of leather. I think having all the leather options like ours is almost as rare as the sunroof delete (which we also checked ) though.

Basically I just like to be an *** about having more leather than anyone else
