Renegade Motors LS3 conversion in Plano, TX. I think the price is insane ($37,500), but at least they added TPMS.

1999 Porsche 911 C4 odometer: 170000 fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : clean cylinders : 8 cylinders
condition: excellent
This is an awesome example of reliablility and power in a Porsche 911
If you research, you will find there are several design issues with Porsche 911 engines from 1999-2004 that result in total engine replacement (IMS, RMS)
This is the solution.
A massively powerfull, bulletproof Chevy power plant good for hundreds of thousands of miles.
The Chevy 430hp, 6.2 liter LS3, with a conversion kit and labor this car was transformed into a corvette powered Porsche that has all the power of a 911 turbo with the low rpm torque that a turbo can not even dream of.
This was the prototype conversion performed in house by Renegade Hybrids (http://www.renegadehybrids.com)
It is the actual car used in the promotional videos on their website
This is a 1999 Porsche 911 C4 (AWD) with a 6-spd trans.
The body has 175K on it, The engine is a new crate engine with about 8-10K on it
the tires are almost new Conti Extreme contact tires

Runs great, sounds great
Cheap to maintain, awesome to enjoy!
This is the link to their video:
Their website is: www.renegadehybrids.com

Either the seller just doesn't want to cope and could be a great deal, or a time bomb about to go off.

Guessing the later... but maybe someone like to gamble.

If you can't take 15 seconds to make a proper ad, what are the odds you spend any time whatsoever maintaining the car? No thanks.

I give people a pass on that sometimes, never know if English is their strong language, and I've been known to write some pretty funny rushed/drunk things myself. Plus I don't trust anyone trying to sell me something anyway...
=)
Wonder what it would be to part the car out if the engine was totally shot? Could maybe turn into a few grand worth of a gamble if someone is in the area and has a garage.
Or do the Gas Monkey thing and only show up with 4k in cash?

"I don't want to much questions" never something you want to hear when buying any car let alone a Porsche
#232
What questions would you ask anyway? Someone asks me about my car, and they have money in their hand, I'm going to say just about anything (legal) to get that money in my hand.
=)
So again, the seller isn't someone to trust unless they are proven to be trustworthy, and even then they are trying to sell you something...
I'd just want to hear it run, take my stethoscope around it, see if the engine noise could be pinpointed, and go from there. The only question I'd really have of the owner is "where is the car".
#233
True about the only thing the seller could say to have any impact on my decision would be on how low they would go on the price.
For that amount you get what you pay for and it's up to a buyers due diligence after that.

Jalopnik did an article on somebody selling a well documented conversion car that he was selling for 25k. I think the owner is a member here. $37,500 is turbo money for a bastard conversion.
The funny thing is that I like the 996 and I love the LS motors so if this car was reasonably priced I might consider it... Sadly that isn't the case.
For the same price you could buy the vert in LA (provided the car wasn't stolen, it looks a little too nice to be parked in front of a dumpster. yank the motor sell it for core bait and pick up the Renegade kit and required bits to go along with it. You would still be money ahead of what that guy is asking.

Based off the price that renegade quoted me to do the swap, I see why this guy has the car priced at $37k. Realistically, that guy is shooting for the stars with his asking price. I wish him the best of luck, but it likely won't go for that much.
I sold mine for $25k after it was an internet superstar for a few weeks and made national TV. My car had fewer miles, but it only had an LS1 (his is LS3).

Halfway down the page is the stuff I could find about the car.

You missed a deal of the century couple years ago, there was a LS converted 996 that sold for $13k. This was before LS options were in vogue for the 996.

Man, I sure wish there were some nice cars for sale posted up here once in a while instead of all the bloopers... I can find overpriced junk on craigslist everyday, no help needed.
