My guess is that it has some sort of history despite the dealership's silence in the advertisement. It does not say anything about the title. I think the dealer could run it through the auction and get $26k or more for it if it had a clean title. So, why would they bother with trying to sell it to a consumer if that were the case?

My guess is it was factory tan and grey with the wood veneer option. Where the veneer cracked they replaced it with black from a salvage car.
I saw a cheap c2 with full wood veneer that had cracked and delaminated in every place you see black on this car.

I agree with your assessment with the dash part but what I was getting at was the grey carpet. Grey carpet is definitely not part of the color combo with the tan dash.

Here's a question: Considering the norm in mileage, how much more should one pay for a real low mileage car (e.g. less than 40K miles) before it starts to get ridiculous? What I mean is even if the car has 10 miles on the odo, it still doesn't mean that it's that much closer to MSRP.
I just saw an MKI cab with 20K miles on it for $33k. The norm for this car with 80K miles would be.... what? $18K - $20K. So this is $13K - $15K more. Is it worth it? At the end, it's still a 16 year old car and its not going to be a classic any time soon.

I don't think that is such a car, but up to MY00 they offered a deviating leather option where you could have two different color leathers mixed throughout the car. Like every thing else Porsche when it comes to options there was a sliding scale from just seat inserts to designating almost each individual piece's color if I remember correctly.
We had designed what would have been a gorgeous black/gray scheme, but then they dropped those options in MY01 when we finally got our build slot

As noted before, my primary suspicion was the mismatched carpeting color to the rest of the interior. When's the last time you saw a grey carpeting with tan interior combo? I don't know too many that would replace it with that combo unless they were trying to repair/replace something on the cheap. You gotta wonder what other things(mechanical) they might've cheaped out on or if there are any hidden issues.

Maybe the person was color blind and the sales guy didn't want to offend him, not trying to be funny but I know someone who looks at beige paint and sees pink. Granted beige paint uses red and yellow mixed into a white base to get the beige but he can point to two color chips, one of pink and one of beige and sees the same color.
