Very nice looking car, best of luck with it. I recently picked up a 2003 C2 and love it. This weather is killing me here on Long Island, all I want to do is drive it but no can do between snow, ice, salt and pot holes that could swallow a small bus I will have to wait as I suspect you will also being not far from me.
I absolutely love the MKII side skirts on your car, so much I have a set being painted as I write this.
You planning any upgrades in the near future, not that the AE really needs any.

Wondering what color you picked for your C2. I saw a really nice minty mint 03 Arctic Silver down on the south shore about 2 weeks ago while visiting family.
I'm big on those MKII skirts as well and like the idea of adding them to the C2 if not already equipped.
Would love to jump on the sweet deal being offered on the Numeric Short Shifter but not sure I can spring for it. Other than that I'm just really enjoying my car as is. Like you, can't wait for the snow and potholes to be gone so I can get the car on the road and have some real fun.

Had the LSD replaced (under warranty) due to a minor popping sound. My car feels noticeably quicker. Has anyone else experienced this?
FWIW, prior to the LSD replacement, it drove exactly the same as another 40th AE.

Well we can officially retire two of our 40AEs:
No. 0829: This 40AE was last sold by Rusnak Porsche in Thousand Oaks, CA. It was listed in February of last year for $38,888 with 71,820 miles (first pic). It's buyer must have had some tough luck because it was next found being sold at salvage auction last month (second pic). I guess no one wanted to buy it to restore it because its parts are now on eBay being sold by Specialized German. One of our 40AE brethren, fmmoto (no. 0575) PM'ed me about the fact that they were selling the engraved number plate from that car. Frankly, I couldn't stomach the notion of someone buying that plate and installing it in a non-40AE car. I've seen it done before - it's just wrong
. Anyway, I bought it (third pic) to keep it in the 40AE family, so essentially I guess no. 0829 is now officially retired.
No. 0941: You may recall the sad story I previously posted about a 40AE that burned to the ground. Well, long story short, I found its owner. He was kind enough to tell me the whole story, the "Cliff Notes" version of which is that his wife bought him no. 0941 as his retirement car, as he had a P-car previously and sold it due to kids/family needs year earlier. He started running through the gears on a trip from California to Las Vegas and the car sputtered, so he backed off and ended up pulling over. He left the engine running and popped open the hood, and "poof", there was fire on the right side of the engine. He turned the engine off and started grabbing sand from the side of the road, but it was too late. The fourth pic is of the car "pre-fire", the fifth is self-explanatory. RIP no. 0941.

Greetings 40AE owners (past and present):
On a little more upbeat note (after the news about no. 0829 and no. 0941), I thought that this would be a good time to check in with everyone to share what I have as the latest listing of current, past and “unsure of” RL 40AE owners. Please post here or email me with any corrections. Remember that the numbers that start with a "U" are cars on the un-numbered list in the registry (meaning I need their numbers). Also, if you know of any 40AEs that aren’t in the registry please let me know. As always, the link to the registry itself is in my signature below. Thanks.
PS - I've posted a few 40AE pics that I thought you'd enjoy.

still have #251, something like 62k miles now and going up as she has endorsed the daily driver role after I sold my wife's car.
on an unrelated note, I installed GT3 style seats this weekend... I wouldn't recommend them for daily driving. LOL!

Now that I’ve had my 40th AE for a couple of weeks, let me introduce myself to this group for the registry. I recently purchased #225 from a fellow RL’er who I originally contacted through this post. 43,000 mi. with recent LN IMS retrofit, RMS, clutch and flywheel were replaced 400 miles prior to me purchasing the car.
I also own a 997.1 C2S I’ve had the past 3 years and wanted something a little different I could track more often and this model with the X51, M030 suspension and LSD is a fantastic starting point. A “GT3 Lite” so to speak… I drove the car home 500 miles/7 hours the day I purchased it and it was a fantastic ride, (including a few exciting moments I had created to break up the ride). The power delivery seems much different in this car vs the 997S. The 996 power curve is relatively flat and linear up to 4500 RPMs and then seems to explode through 6k (and beyond?).
I’ve already got a Numeric shifter ready to go in along with PFC pads and high temp fluid the next nice weekend we have. I’ll likely remove the center and shifter consoles. Also on the upgrade list is rear roll bar, track wheels and tires, race seats with harnesses and eventually JRZ suspension. I’m looking forward to the sheer enjoyment this car should provide!

On a separate note, just want to put an APB out for balefire. Miss hearing from you. As the OP on this great thread and the father of the original registry I personally would love to hear how you and the car are doing. Hope all is well.

Terrific!
I fixed your status in the listing in my post above. I'll update the registry and upload the revised version tomorrow.
Is this what it looks like when you take your kids to school in sub-zero weather? My car is insanely jealous. She's hibernating in the garage due to the 6" of snow we got yesterday. The Panny Turbo does all the work in this weather. With the AWD and Soto Zeroes she's a beast in the snow, except, of course, when her knucklehead driver aims her at gigantic potholes - replaced two tires already this winter

I'm still here with my girl at 15k now, she's tethered to her battery tender and taking on a long winter nap (with monthly wake up calls to run the AC and circulate the oils). Damn I can't wait for spring to finally get here!
If you like the wail past 4500 rpm, try it with muffler delete pipes... better than coffee to wake up a morning commute!
Glad to be in the club!

The previously mentioned photoshoot for Total911 magazine is planned for tuesday, so i should be able to post some nice photos.
The article is about the new 50th but will include my 40th and also a silver 30th.
Really looking forward to the day out.

My wife commented that I was probably the only 911 in the school queue... pity.

A few photos taken from my iphone during the total911 magazine shoot. Talking to the editor he said the article will contain information and details of all three cars and not just the 50th.

A great if rather cold and windy day, I think the article will be in the next issue but I will let you know.
