LOL @ Scott... Yup very good billy

so last night I installed my new rear wheel bearing.. a semi-serious operation. I also had my new hub arrive in the mail (used) as a new hub was approaching the $800 mark!! (got the used one with 30 day money back for $120) this wheel bearing would be a $1500+ to have done...glad I know a little bit about cars.

been down since Thursday...seems like forever but I am enjoying the working on it too. Might be on the road by mid-late week. That's my story of the day

thanks...I had the shakes after putting in the bearing, discovered I was nervous and on an adrenaline rush...have to heat the trailing arm and freeze the bearing then "go for it" kind of a do or die deal there....

felt good when it hit home, stopped for the night and will pick it up where I left off

$1500 for a wheel bearing and labor? That's crazy Ed. I think my wheel bearing replacement was under $400 for my 911(996).

When I was working on the rear.... I thought I would replace the bearings, after looking at all the parts..... I thought, ehhh she should be alright. Gonna wait till it breaks, then replace.

when my other one went it made a real "bearing noise" this one made a grinding sound...very strange

anyhow I was up early and drinking coffee, thought "to h&ll with it" went into the garage and finished it up, drove it to work

as for the 400 foot pound torque, I will stop by the shop tonight and have them hit it with the BFTW..I got it as tight as I could with a 2.5 foot cheeter bar

Default Ahole Magnet theory Proven once again

I thought I'd share this. I had to go to the Staples to mail a package. I parked "far from the maddening crowd" as possible. When I came out 5 minutes later, this old hemi beater had selected the spot next to me.

And yes, it did happen.

More support for the A$$Hole magnet theory.

This is a pic from last winter. I took it from far away to show how empty the parking lot was otherwise.
Do you think that there is a page in the owner's manual of each pickup truck that instructs the driver to park next to a Porsche if at all possible?

My opinion is that it looks like he's protecting your car more than being an ***. If you look at his right wheels they are almost on the white line, and it also looks lije he couldn't hit your car if he opened the doors all the way. IMHO

I agree he left huge room...but did choose to park right next to you in a big empty lot

as an experiment I have tried this in my suburban too...just this week 3 times i found that when I went into a store and parked far out in the boonies, when I came back someone had parked right next to me... once I went in for lightbulbs (what 3 minutes?) and came out to find a car on each side of me...(both SUV/van types)

Agreed that it is very annoying, but we'll be hard-pressed to beat the seashell car a few pages back.

It happened to me? Today, went to fill 'er up and three seperate people told me how much they liked the car I always take time to talk. And, enjoy having a "turn around" car. (a car that I ALWAYS turn around and look at when I walk away brings a smile as I walk to it. And, no IMS/RMS issues so far today.
