OK Man...

so my story for today was finding out my rear wheel bearing replacement job was also going to include a new rear hub...price tag for the hub $722 - I said the "F" work about 722 times today

just bought a used one off fleabay for $100, called the seller, he offers a return if not satisfied deal...I said less "F" words after that, hope they dont come back.....I hope its a good hub

anyhow - my baby is down for the count till I get her back on all 4

So I have an appointment for an oil change yesterday and wouldn't you know it, the car doesn't start. I roll the car out of the garage into the pouring rain (torrents!) and jump start it with my truck and get soaked. OK, I'm good to go. I get on the highway and there's a flashing sign "accident ahead, all lanes closed". #$@! I get off the highway and meander the small roads and then notice my gas gauge reads "---". Never seen that! Amazingly, I make it to the dealer on fumes and say goodbye to $600 (oil plus new battery). On the upside, better to have the battery crap out on the day I'm heading to the dealer than on a date or something....

nothing cheap - glad you got it fixed....might be time to learn a few wrenching operations if you like, but I totally get why people dont like/want to change their own oil...messy and maybe the mess aint worth the savings

glad she is back to running smooth

I usually leave Harleys in the dust on back roads because they can't lean deep enough because of the foot rests.

Finally after several miles the coast is clear with no traffic to slow us down, so I wind out 2nd gear, grab 3rd and the bikers were quite a bit behind me, but finally catch up. Then more traffic, but we were able to have spurts of speed. Finally no more cars ahead, 1 Harely passes me on a double yellow line, I downshift and stay right with him while his pals are behind me for a final 2 miles or so, then I had to make a left turn, so I stuck my arm out the window with a thumbs up, and 1 of the bikers yelled "you did okay, nice". I may have gone slightly over the posted speed, but my car and new front brakes allowed me to enjoy my ride today.

I do some of my own repairs but like to take it in once a year just to have a Porsche mechanic look over the car. They charge just over $250 for the oil change (it's around $450 in Vancouver so it feels like a real steal!) and for that price, they also check over the whole car - gives me peace of mind. Add a battery at $225 and then taxes, etc, etc, and suddenly it's $600. It was an ouch but sometimes you just have to roll with it.

Default Mystery Clunk (solved)

Ok, So I'm driving over to the Dealer to get a tech inspection for an upcoming DE event. On the way over, I start hearing this occasional "clunk" coming from behind me. I had just put the top up, so I'm thinking it's something with the top mechanism, but could it be the engine? Clunk is intermittent.

Dealer inspects the car with no issues.

Driving back to work, the car is running fine, but then I run into some stop-and-start traffic, and the clunk is more frequent, and louder. Really starting to worry. Now that it's frequent, I can pinpoint the location, and it's coming from the rear passenger area.

Turns out my kids had left an aluminum water bottle on the rear floor area, and it was rolling around hitting the seat mounts.

Problem solved.
