Hey Everyone, names Simon. Wont get into a long-winded back-story, lets get right to it.
I bought a '99 996.1. Car had a good PPI, plenty of records and the seller was a good, honest guy. Car itself has some suspension mods, and has already gotten an engine rebuild using LN Nickies and an overbore to 3.8L. I'm quite happy with it. Picked it up just went straight to Angeles Crest Highway. Have a few things planned for the short-term and a few things for the long-term. Anyways, on to the pics.
Pic from the post test drive. My daily cleverly hiding in the background haha

Posted this in another thread, but heres the spec sheet. Light on the options, but a good one on there (408).

Couldnt get the pic I hoped for because of the SoCal sun... but 99,996 haha

I was determined to drive the car enough to arrive home at 100k+, but also wanted to get a great first pic, from the first day

First "100 miles" impressions:
Things I like:
-3.8L motor pulls nice and sounds great, even with the stock mufflers
-Car feels 'good & tight'
-Wasnt sure how I'd feel about a 996, but I love it.
-Feels vintage enough, AND modern enough
Things I dont like:
-X51 deep sump scrapes my driveway, luckily theres a 'shield' on it, but I have to find a good solution
-Godspeed coils help the 'stance' but have their days numbered. Might wait until I know exactly what coilover setup I want. Heart wants Ohlins, but we'll see... maybe some KWs
-No Cupholder (LOL)
-Not a huge fan of the seats, but this is one of the first things Im swapping out, stay tuned for these.

White is a great color for this chassis and the blue stripe giving me RS vibes.
I’m partial to Ohlins after how well they worked for me - I’d say for a socal ripper - Ohlins with a good corner-balance and suspension refresh, bucket seats, shifter, quick release wheel, GT3 master cylinder and brake ducts, good aggressive street pads and fluid and the thing will shred those sick roads and you’ll feel boss in the cockpit.
Have fun with it bro.

PPI clear... full records... Nikasil bores... 3.8L. I'm sure the rebuilder addressed the IMS bearing too?
Wow! This is the kind of 996 people need to be hunting for.

The current plan is some Recaro reclining seats (need to be able to get a baby seat to take my little one with me to c&c events), 997 SSK to start but maybe Numeric later, GT3 Master cylinder and I actually already bought some brake ducts, though I think they are larger than the GT3 ones.
Suspension & brakes are going to be the main areas to focus on. I will dyno to see what the 3.8 makes.
Thanks, quite fond of the combo myself. BTW Interior is Metropol Blue also

Gorgeous. Love the lettering, Gulf decal and the tail. I also think the 996 look is aging very nicely. Normally I say, swap out the side markers for the clear ones, but they compliment the Gulf decal. Sweet.

Looks perfect to me!
408's- nice.
My favorite shifter is the 997.2 GT3 shifter. When you get the super aggressive SSK's it's much easier to miss a shift, a lot will disagree with me but I've seen it happen several times at VIR with the CAI shifter.
