I wish I could give better direction on that. This is my first experience tuning a Porsche. I have a lot of time with APR and Cobb, I'm using the ExperTune thing with Fabspeed, since it came as part of their combo. We'll see how it goes once I get her back from the body shop.

BAT 40AE with an FSI 4.0. Adding up the invoices shown in the auction details, looks like this owner paid a little over $32K. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...nniversary-91/

Question for the Dyno aficionados in the thread...

According to the shop owner, the Dyno I ran on didn't collect RPM and TQ because it didn't have a source signal for RPM. This is an LS specific place so they didn't really have a ton of knowledge about the 996. The owner went looking for a location to pull spark signal from without pulling the covers off and what not. Couldn't find one.

Is there a location/loom/wire that I can direct them to without having to dig around a lot? Googled around a bit but not finding much.

Engine is now tuned and *surprise*, the torque difference is obvious. Looking to get all the data I can for y'all.

If not, I'll go find another location further away with a more modern setup. I know nothing about Dyno's other than the absolute truth I read online.

ODB2 plug pin 9 is rpm. I use this signal to my Aim datalogger.

Is that going to be an analog signal or something in a specific protocol? The Dyno in this shop is rather old and has no ODB2 connectivity. If it's analog I'm sure I can run a pin out of it and get a signal he can pick up.

So if he has no obd2 capability how is he getting the signal from a ls motor. Doesnt make sense to plug into the reluctor ring sensor. Im guess he can clip onto a spark plug wire like a timing light....maybe that will work?

OBD2 pin 9 is a "manufacturer specific" signal. There is no pin installed on .2 cars.

He said he normally attaches a sensor to a spark plug wire. Traditional or smart plug is doable.

Well he is sol on getting an rpm from anything newer then 2000? Even ls motors use coil packs. I guess he is a 1/4 carb engine guy. U may have to find another dyno.

I doubt his issue was finding a firing signal on a wire coming off of a coilpack, so much as the ease of ability to actually reach and subsequently identify said wire... But then again, I'm also pulling this my my goldfish memory.

Already looking for another dyno.

Curious what cams you used on this build?

@sdwindr1 Dyno operator should be able to calculate RPM with gearing. That's how mine was done during the club dyno day. Not perfect but better than nothing.

Also, to be fair, SAE correction.
